Hi all,

I've read through at least a dozen other issues similar to mine but still can't seem to find a fix that works.

I've just upgraded to a TCL E18US 55" 4K UHD Smart LED TV which I use as a monitor for my PC. I'm trying to run it in 3840x2160 but the max refresh rate I can get is 30hz, however I believe everything in my build should allow at least 50hz.

Hardware specs are as follows:

Monitor:
Size: 55″
Ultra High Definition
Resolution: 3840 x 2160
HDR Premium
HDMI Inputs x 3 (1.4a & 2.0)

GPU:
GTX 1060 6GB Turbo
Digital Max Resolution: 7680x4320
DVI Output : Yes x 1 (Native) (DVI-D)
HDMI Output : Yes x 2 (Native) (HDMI 2.0)
Display Port : Yes x 2 (Native) (Regular DP)
HDCP Support : Yes

I'm connecting the GPU and monitor via an XCD 4k UHD HDMI cable that supports 4k*2k@60hz.

As far as I can tell, all the hardware I have should allow a much higher refresh rate, I just can't figure out where I'm going wrong!

I've tried numerous suggestions such as going through the NVidia Control Panel and changing the resolution that way but am only given the option of 30hz at anything above 1920x1080, unless I customize a resolution in which case I can only get a max of 36hz @ 3840x2160 which isn't a great improvement.

Going through the display adapter properties yields the same result, allowing a max of 30hz.

All drivers have been checked and are up to date, I've even been through all the settings on the TV itself but haven't had any luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Solution
could be a tv setting, nvidia can detect what your tv supports through edid
try to relabel your hdmi input on tv to PC
the other thing to check would be hdmi cable, hdmi 1.4 is around 30hz

Didn't fix the issue but pointed me in the right direction... turns out there's a setting buried deep in the TV that enables/disables HDMI 2.0 output and by default it was set to Off.... Had a feeling it would be something stupid, thanks for the help, really appreciate it! :)
