I'm building a new computer for a customer using: Asus CUV4X-E, PIIIeb 1gig, 256 PC133 SDRAM, Toshiba 16x DVD, Raddeon 32 DDR LE AGP, Maxtor 20G 7200, and a TEAC 12x10x32 burner bundled with Adaptec. Tons of cooling.
Mobo has latest BIOS and VIA chipset drivers. WinME is fully updated. Computer runs great except for the problem below.
Shortly into the burn, the buffer shows 100% full and then access to the DVD stops. Adaptec hangs there until I cancel the operation. When using Disk-At-Once, it hangs after the Table of Contents is written. Without DAO, it hangs after about 4% of the CD is burned.
The burner is the SLAVE the DVD. I've had it as the Master without similar results. I've tried another data cable, and I've tried using a different drive to read the CD's. I tried Sony CD Extreme and get a buffer underrun error immediately. And I put it into a different machine with similar results.
I just reinstalled the Easy CD software from the disk that came with the replacement drive, and I was able to dupe a 500 mb CD at 4x okay, but during an 8X burn, it hung halfway through.
Any ideas??
