I got this machine at auction and it had several issues

1) No Music - First I thought it was DBS2 MPEG sound board then found out
simply connector plugged in upside down. Easy fix once I found it.

2) No sound to rear speakers - Thought is was amp because when I switched
CN8 and CN9 the rear sound came out the front speakers so main game board is
definitly putting out sound for rear channel. Put them back and got front
sount back out of front speakers.

Thought reach channels on amp were gone so purchased new AMP and exchanged
but same issue.

Anyone have any idea what the proper jumper settings are on amp?

There are two headers with about 2 rows of 10 parralle pins on each.

Each header has a jumper in a location. Game came this way. Replacemnt amp
I purchased had no jumpers so I just transfered them to identical settings.
Still no go. Same issue.

Any other ideas?

Also, how in the world do you disconnect drivers seat from slides? Do you
need to remove one of the slides?

I want to ohm out paths to make sure not something simple like broken wire
but my guess is that it is not that simple because neither speakers have
sound.

Segas online manual do say anything about either the jumpers or removing the
drivers seat.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Reseat every connector. Check the volume pot (Potentiometer) ..

Just got the same problem with my Scud Race twin.

The wires going from the amp board to the coin box got pinched,
probably during transport.

Just installed the pot directly on the amp board (via a connector).

Now it plays the music in all it' s glory!!!

Hi all,

I've been through every connecotor, wire, and connection about 20 times.

I've also disconnected the wires from the variable pot and checked that out
of circuit and it 'seems' fine.

0-5K just like the other.

If anyone know the answer the these two specific questions it might help me.

Does anyone know proper jumper settings on 4-CH main amp for the two
headers?

Is the Low pass filter board in any way related to sound coming out the read
speakers?

Any other ideas of where to look appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

I'm not 100% sure but I think the low pass filter is only used for
amplifing the music for the bass speaker in the seat.

Have you tried unplugging the connector where the wires from the volume
adjust pot come in (while in music test)? Normally the music should
play at maximum volume because the pot weakens the input voltage.

Just checked on my Scud Race twin, unplugged the low pass filter board
and the bass speaker stops and rear speakers continue to play.

Hey All,

THanks for the support

Yes, I currently have all three wires going to rear pot cut.

Still no sounds or music (just 'slight' hissing noise)

This one has me stumped, I've changed main amp. Did not resolve issue.

I've swapped output connectors on both main game board and DBS2 MPEG board
(and this sends this rear sounds to the front speakers, but front sound do
not them go to rear, so I have a both a front a rear working signal source).

I also get no sound from sub (best I can tell)

The only thing left to check I can think of is jumper settings on main amp.

The replacement amp I purchased did not have any jumpers. The one in the
game currently has two. I have no idea if they are set to correct position.
This would help if I knew correct jumper settings.

When I replaced amp I simply installed jumper setting in same location as
old amp.

Segas online manual gives no refernce as to what jumper setting should be.

Luckily game is very playable "as is"

Now I'm on a mission though.....

Any other advice welcome and appreciated

Thanks
Bob Presutti

Thanks Peter,

This helps alot. I think it at least removes one more variable from the
equation.
