Interesting bits of information...

So DDR-II will be present? DDR533 highly suggests a 1066Mhz FSB anyway...

I do hope Intel goes all the way. And I also hope that at some point, Intel too will go 64 bit on desktops.

Also, it's interesting to see that Tejas will be around as soon as 2nd half of 2004...

You have a pretty good upgrade path picked out though! The 2.4C has a really good price/performance/oc-ability factor. And you can just pop a Prescott in there in a year (hopefully the Socket 478 Prescott will come down a lot in price by then too). Then you can drool over the Tejas reviews after you have your Prescott hehe.

Why buy Prescott?
If it's due out in 2H 2004, that most likely means Q4. Unless you're a real enthusiast you will probably want to wait for the price to come down a little before upgrading. Figure 3 to 6 months. That puts your realistic upgrade time in Q1 or Q2 2005. Do you really want to still be using your 2.4C until then?

Listen to me now and forget me tomorrow

A couple of thoughts.

Im anxious to see how the LGA socket is going to work, how do you clamp down the CPU and maintain full interfacing area for the heatsink, i dont see it.

Also 0.6 micron woah that is seriously small i hadnt read anywhere that they were even thinking of shrinking again, they are just now going to 0.9 micron for pete sakes, and already they are gonna shrink it again?

Intel is making some serious advances as of late, i wonder if they recovered some alien technology and are exploiting it or something HAHA

Um... I have a question here!

...I read it somewhere that Tejas was supposed to be a 1200Mhz FSB part. OK, so it appears they won't do that. But here's my question: how was 1200Mhz a possibility at all? There's no memory that works synch with a 1200Mhz FSB! If you go DDR533, you'll get the 1066Mhz FSB (which'll probably be the case!); if you go with DDR667 (which might happen next year or 2005, who knows), you'll get a 1333Mhz FSB... (1066Mhz->8.5GB/s; 1333Mhz->10.7GB/s)

Were they really considering the only alternative I can think of which yields 9.6GB/s (1200Mhz): quad-channel PC1066 RDRAM?... As in SiS659's chip?...

The real question is what nicknames will we be giving these products?

Willy = Willamette
Wilty = Willamette Celeron
Northy/Woody = Northwood

So what will the new products be?
I vote for:
Nutty = Northwood Celeron
Prezzy = Prescott
Prissy = Prescott Celeron
Tejy = Tejas
Tetchy = Tejas Celeron

Ow, that's a hard one...

None of those names will beat "Willie/Willy" anyway... Willie is just way too "cutie"...

Oh, I've got a good one!!! What about "Scotty" for the Prescott? That actually sounds nice!!!

Hey, that is a good one! I like Scotty. :)

That make me think about Star Treek.

It must be faster to write a nickname is need a abriviation is also need.(PSTT) prescott (TAS) Tejas.

I dont like french test

Yeah... so now we've got Willy, Woody, Scotty, and... Tejas should be... Hm... wait... Tejjy? Teggy? ...

How about Jazzy, as in Tejaz or Tejazzy? I can't come up with anything better than that!... Or maybe Tazzy? or Tezzy? better than Tejjy!...

That made me think about Star Treek
Absolutely. Why not?...

Intel Engineer: Now we'll ramp up to 6Ghz. Give me 6Ghz NOW, Scotty!
Prescott/Scotty: But, Captain, "the engines cannae' take it any more! I'm givin' you all (she's) got!"
Intel Engineer: Warp 6, Scotty! Er, I mean, Ghz 6! No, no, 6Ghz NOW! Engage!

and so on...

Yeah, Tejas is kind of a hard one because it's so short. 🙁 Intel should know better than to name a core something so short. Mean people at Intel.

Seriously though, I'm pretty open to ideas for Tejas proper. :) Jazzy might do. At least we have time to think on it as it won't be out for a while. :)

I am pretty partial to Tetchy though for the Tejas Celeron. :) It reminds me of Red Dwarf. :O

Kryton: Now you know what happens when you call me tetchy...
Lister: Tetchy. Tetchy. Tetchy!

I love that show. :)

Reddwarf rules!

I just picked up season 1 & 2 on dvd... Kryton makes an appearance but isn't really part of the series yet at that point... cant wait to get the rest of the series... that's definetly one to own.

What about just "Tay". That's 50% less syllables.

And then there's that nForce3 Opteron board just below. . .

I'll just have to take one of everything I see.
