What is the "Temp" folder for which is at
C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Local Settings\Temp?
Nothing seems to appear there while I use
IE to browse.

This is a temp folder for programs to use. The stuff that appears when you
browse in IE goes into 'Temporary Internet Files' in the same folder.

Do you know what common apps or utilities use the Temp folder?

Thank you for your kind contribution. All I need is the name of *one*
app or utility so that I can observe that it writes to the Temp folder.
While you're at it, have you any idea why IE puts cookes in the
Temporary Internet Files folder and not the Cookies folder? Can it
be set to put cookies in the Cookies folder?
