i bought an after market cooler for my pc which is an arctic freezer a11
but because it wouldnt fit all on my cpu i bought a cheaper cooler which was a zalman cnps5x
i also bought some arctic 5 silver compound now with my zalman i was getting around 55 to 57c while playing games, but i put my arctic freezer in yesterday and tested out minecraft and i got 58c and i shut off the game it would of went up even more if i kept it going on the arctic freezer website they showed that when they put the cpu at full load it stayed at 38c why in the hell is mine so high? my cpu is an amd fx 8350

Solution
I think arctic freezer a11 should keep temps more down.Try to clean all thermal compound and reinstall cooler.Do it carefully so you dont miss anything.
Rijintek Themis is good, but it have bad position when you mount him on AMD.It will blow hot air down to GPU or Up to PSU(if you have PSU up) so if you have PSU down then it might be nice cheap solution.

This cooler should keep your FX 8350 around 50°C under full 100% load.

Zalman cnps5x should keep it much cooler. You should check if you mounter it right or maybe you put to much thermal compound and it spill on socket. That can cause higher temps. Also those cooler are not rly good with FX 8350 who is 125W CPU.You will need something better if you want lower temps.Link us from where you buy your stuff so we can find you something.

i am willing to put more money into my cpu cooling if it will cool my system when gaming or video rendering
i dont want to waste money if it doesnt work what do you suggest

Solution
cheers to all who helped, i think it has something to do with my motherboard which is a asus m5a78l-m usb3 i heard online that its not straight out of the box ''compatible'' with fx chips but mine was ok in it
im looking into a more expensive msi board cheers all!

Oh man that mobo!!Change it fast!!It is not made for FX 8xxx CPU's.You should mention mobo in info but ok now.Change it asap.If you need any help with new mobo ask here or you can post me your budget for mobo now and i will find you one that will handle your CPU.

hi im using my laptop to write to you does the m5a78l-m usb 3 cause the fx 8350 to overheat? and thanks for pointing that out i did read about it online that it wasnt for fx chips the motherboard im looking into at the moment is the msi 970 as its in my budget i dont want to go over £100 let me know what you think

Yeah, 990fx > 990x > 970 but any will do the job here

st3v30 i monitor my temps with hwmonitor and my motherboard stayed in the 30c range so my motherboard wasnt over heating and im a girl xD im looking at the 990fxa seems like a great board

Yea it is great board Frau Diosa. It will server you well.
Yea it show you 30 but not whole mobo is heating up just VRM's around CPU, they are key for CPU power and stability.
Any mobo we posted above will get you better and stable system and performance.
Nice to see women hands on computer parts (noting offensive ).

cheers guys you've all been a great help i purchased the 990FXA mobo and it will be here tomorrow since i lost my windows disk i may have to purchase windows again if the mobo doesnt read it from my ssd hmm do you suggest i buy a new windows or try and see if it will recognize it from my ssd? anywho thanks so much for all your help hopefully my temps wont be above 50c while gaming
