Hi guys i have a computer with a AMD Athlon II X2 220 and a Nvidia Gts 2501GB and i will tell you what it plays and at what rates.
CoD 4- Everything Max and runs 70-80fps
GTA IV- Everything Max and runs 40-50fps
Stalker series- DX10 lighting and everything max-50-55fps
Mafia II- Everything max and apart from AA thats 4 and runs 40-50fps
Two Worlds 2- everything max and runs 60-70fps
HALF LIFE 2- Everything max and runs at 80-90fps
Bioshock Series- Everything max and it runs at 80-90fps
Fallout 3- Everything max and it runs at 70-80fps

But i have a crap moniter and the resolution i play these at 1024x768 and they play fne.
There are some games coming out that i want to play like Farcry 3, tomb raider and dishonored so do you think this rig will play them even at low settings, and if not what would be a good upgrade for both CPU and GPU.

Thanks guys.

Put it this way. My phone has a higher resolution. Consoles are slightly higher resolution. You are not experiencing games like they are supposed to be played. New games will choke your system up.

Well Nvidia Gts 250 with 150 watts max and your athlon at 65 watts i suspect your PSU isn't really strong enough for the new cards so were can we start from this old story?

Try visiting Tom's Charts to find a card at 190 watts max that more likely can play in your system first.

Don't worry about upgrades till you have a problem. New stuff constantly comes out and prices drop. And don't worry about any monitor snobs lol. Would I play at your Res? No. But for your hardware its a good fit, and as long as YOU'RE having fun who cares? That's the only point of games.

If you ever do decide to go windscreen/1080p I'd say you're looking needing at totally new system

I had to read that again and chuckle 😀
But that comment is spot on, 1080p would need a new system to make full use of it.

Meh. Looking at needing, looking needing at. Same diff lol.

*shakes fist at the autocorrect/Swype gods*

As long as you stay with that low rez display, you will be fine for the near future. Super graphically demanding games like BF3 may require you to turn off a bit of eye candy, though. Remeber, the more pixels/texels the card has to process... the harder it has to work. At 1024x768 the graphic system has 3/4 of a million pixels to address. At 1920x1080 it has over 2 million pixels to address.
