Hello,

I need to upgrade this system becoz I need 8GB or more. The details I could find about this (present) RAM are:

Total Width: 64 bits
Data width: 64 bits
Form factor: SODIMM
Type: DDR3
Speed: 1333 MHz
Memory = 2GB

Now, I really need some performance as I will be running some big jobs on this. [and I hate lags]

Can somebody please suggest which would be the RAM for me to pick up? [Not too expensive ones]

Also, I am currently running 2 x 2GB sticks = 4GB. Should I and Can I upgrade it to a single 8gb stick or should I use 2 x 4GB sticks? [I am not sure if this hardware will support 8GB stick, if it is any different from 4GB.]

Unfortunately, the system total memory capacity is 8gb only.

Thank you and have a great day,

JB

As long as all the RAM you put in there is DDR3 1333, you should be fine. If the board maxes out at 8GB, then yes, it should be okay to do either one of those options (2x4 or 1x8).

How did you find out the board maxes out at 8GB? Board must be older or off-brand for that.

Thanks.

I did a dmidecode, and it showed the maximum memory capacity as 8GB. Its an old system (5years) and so I think 8GB could well be the cap.

Also, can I use 1600MHz or something. Will it work or will it give me problems? I guess, higher the MHz, better the performance, right?

Thanks,
JB

Thank you!

Thanks but we can close this thread. Its been effectively answered in an another thread.

BTW, I actually made a mistake of ordering and using a wrong RAM.
