The Good Old Floppy Question

I am putting together a system on a budget, and i took an old 1.44 floppy drive out of a 486 machine i used to have and am going to use it in my new computer, does anyone know if there would be any difference in a 1.44 drive made now and one made a few years ago or are they pretty much the same stuff. just dont want to run into any problems if its incompatible. I know they are cheap to buy new, but do you think an old one will work in a new machine?

No differences, just old floppy drives are usually very dusty inside! This increases the chance of destroying the data on the floppy, or corrupting as well. Go buy a new one, that only cost from $12-$20.00.

As kn says, if you were to pull it apart you would be amazed at all the crud that builds up inside them, for the sake of $20 get a new one

Well, if you clean it out, it should be okay.

most likely those old stuff are more stable, and occupy less system resource. however, for floppy drive, should be the same.
