Mr. Nguyen has been reported to the police for his harassing and threatening phone calls over this past week and his revenge article. David Free is a complete moron retard.. It is not harassing if you did not receive your product you ordered and have been shafted for money. I think David is a paranoid schizophrenic.. He is all pissed cause his business practices are a sham and someone stood up to the asshole.. Ripp him a new one people.....
 
christop - Tuan has provided the information that clearly states and enforces his composure through this entire situation. Besides, I wouldn't be so quick to inform the police. On page 4, you claimed to start a DoS on Macpadd.com and quote "Hackers unite." This leaves me to believe you are nothing more than a child, in "Hackers" terms this is called a Skiddie, or Skid. Learn to play with a ball before you roll into the real world. If you are indeed a "Hacker" and have truly informed the police, you would have not called yourself a hacker and instead went through with a DoS nor reported him to the authorities.
 
So I submitted a new definition to UrbanDictionary for macpadd. You can find it below. I logged in as an editor to help publish it. Hopefully others will publish it as well and it will show up soon. I don't agree with meek48's definition.


A mythical device said to be created by unicorns and fairies that will cure you from STD's, cancer, receding hairline, gingivitis and most cases of jock itch. Will not protect you from the H1N1 virus as it is used in the manufacturing process.

An actual sample of said device has never been found since the Mythical Creatures Manufacturing Union chapter 48 has closed down talks and have went on strike.

Tom: Man come look at this cool ass Macpadd mouse pad I'm going to order. It says that I can save the world if I purchase this thing.

Frank: What? It's a slab of aluminum with some rubber shelf matting. I can make you that right now in the garage.

Tom: But look, it says it will protect me from the H1N1 virus. You know I don't like getting sick.

Frank: It's aluminum. A quick shot of Lysol, or better yet bleach, would work out better.

Tom: But I'm an Apple connoisseur and I need this. It has Mac in the name so it must be fancy.

Frank: Whatever. It's your money asshat. I'm going to the bar.
 
This "Free" is obviously a scammer. No legit company goes through this much trouble. What is frustrating is that the BBC and police / RCMP don't seem to do enough, the court system is too lenient on this type of fraud, claiming lack of evidence and such. Just grab them, fine them and let them defend themselves.
 
One thing seems to be glaringly obvious, had he EVER shipped anything, it would've arrived by now.

He couldn't have stopped it en route due to a dispute or anything, it would've still been delivered.

The guy must have some sort of mental issue if he keeps responding and making these allegations and threats, and it just puts him in more and more of a bad light. This whole thing could've been solved by probably a simple tracking number. He doesn't know how to run a business at all, and it seems he doesn't know how to scam people and at least create the illusion of properly running a business. His crazy irrational behavior sounds like some of my ex-girlfriends. I'm guessing he hopes that by acting like a retard, customers will just get frustrated and give up instead of putting in the effort to get a refund. I still think it would be easier and he'd make a lot more money by actually providing the product and services he claims instead of trying to scam people.

I agree if we had more reporters in the regular press would actualy do investigative journalism like this half of the BS that people pull over on the news reporters wouldnt happen like it does now.
 
Why is Tom's Hardware allowing one of it's employees to use it's website and notoriety to wash his dirty laundry?

In my view, Tom's Hardware is about news and computer how-to, not about consumer protection. It is irrelevant to me whether the author is right or not, it's just that TH is not the place to do it.

Please put an end to this ridiculous string of articles.
 
As this thing has gone viral, Mr. Free may find it difficult or impossible to find a job anywhere, unless he changes his name along with his outlook on how to conduct business. Perhaps he'll find it easier just to off himself, and the world will be a better place without him.
 
The videos on MacPadd's YouTube page are so pathetic. An eight year old with 15 minutes on their hands could make a better video than Free. Speaking of eight year olds, apparently an eight year old reviewed the product on YouTube.
 
Anyone who doesn't see the value in these articles or doesn't understand why Tom's is continuing to feature this on their site clearly has some screws loose in their dome piece.

At first, TH was simply giving a heads up that this is a potential scam site and because of the demographic that views this site, some people could have or could at some point come across MacPadds and consider ordering their product.

TH probably would have left it at that, but the fact Mr. Free decided to be arrogant, ignorant, and downright shady pushed TH to pursue this further. Not only is TH sticking up for themselves, they are sticking up for consumers as well.

TH is a pretty big internet tech publication and the fact they are going to such lengths to expose a potential fraud deserves applaud.

The clowns posting here saying TH should drop this or they are just causing a flame war are just looking to be edgy/get attention in the comments section. Mission accomplished, but you are still idiots.

Great articles and great awareness TH. Anytime you come across a potential scam site you should let us know.
 
Macpadd has updated the site with a pdf with evidence of the shipping. They claim it was ordered on Friday, dealt with Monday, delivered to post office Friday and they have shipping reciepts. Care to respond to any of this?
 
That document reads like it was written by Michael Moore. It still seems to twist the fact.

Whoever wrote it really needs to learn how to use parentheses.

customs form is shown but not the receipt by post office saying the package shipping was paid...

guess we'll have to wait to see if the package DOES arrive to California....
 
Downloaded the PDF and am reading it now...it's hysterical. He really is a funny guy as he's actually going through the actions of fighting this back/forth instead of letting it quietly die.

You have my support and I hope we can all walk away from your experience a little wiser and more confident in dealing with companies (legit or otherwise) who take our money with a smile and serve us with a frown! This Free dude broke every rule in the "professional" book. He lied to you, he fabricated evidence, mistreated you and has the balls to be arrogant about it. I see my comment is already on page 5 so probably you won't even see this, but dude, all I want to say is kudos to you for fighting a good war, and doing it well! Ciao!
 
Hi all,

One thing I would like to add regarding Mr. Free. In the previous articles it was stated that Mr. Free said that he an Engineering. Such a claim can get him in some hot water with the Ontario Professional Engineers - http://www.peo.on.ca/ if he is not. If you have time give them a call and see what they have to say. PEO's contact info is on their main page.
 
a plumber did the same thing to me. He lives in Ohio and goes by the company name "the plumbing doctor" and "the plumb master" fyi...DON"T USE HIM. reported him to BBB and Ohio general attorney's office. He would not cooperate with either. He still owes me 1200$.
