Dom_79 -EXACTLY! guys, I know those air coolers are the same but I want the H100i for looks...I dont lose performance so its a win win! Now, about the fans, They say if you plug the fans into the block before putting the magnetic bracket you
re screwed since they are hard to take out and you can break it.....so I WONT use the stock fans they give me with the h100i, Ill use SP120's and those plug into the CPU block USING....? The fan connectors ENTER the cpu block and power through? Is there a youtue video that shows ALL the details of this?

The SP120s plug in the same way as the stock ones. The power to the pump and fans is from a sata cable plug from the block (so you'll need a free SATA power plug, which you're PSU no doubt will have).

The reason they say if you plug the fans in before you "apply" the magnetic block bracket will screw things up is because the plugs go into the side of the block and the bracket has to go (impossible) over them (BTW if you plug anything into the block before installing it the bracket won't install properly). I just installed the block first and then plugged in the fans, power and usb last.

Dom_79 - Yeah I know how to install the H100i in the case thats easy but let me get this straight...AFTER its all installed, time for wiring. CORSAIR LINK is a micro usb that goes into the somewhere in the pump and down into a USB header. Ok thats easy. CPU FAN I assume IS ALREADY ON THE BLOCK? And that goes into the cpu fan header. Pump power plugs into a molex power. Ok thats easy. AS FOR THE FANS, they plug into these cables they give you or....see the fans is where im confused 🙁

You have the right of it. But just to clarify my H100i plugs into a SATA power cable: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/SATA_Power_Cable_with_3.3_V.jpg
not a molex: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Molex_female_connector.jpg

Also, there is a CPU lead to plug into the CPU_OPT fan header on your motherboard but that is just to report to the motherboard that there is a fan on the CPU and it is running (otherwise most mobo won't even post because they think "hey, you don't have a fan on your CPU cooler - or no CPU cooler at all! This thing is gonna' overheat!)
BTW my mobo reads the speed of the pump (2300 RPM) as the speed of the CPU fan 😉

It's not that I think the H100 is bad. It's just expensive for what it is. Aluminum radiator, crap pump, and I've never seen anyone use the stock fans. So $100 + $30 more for some decent fans just seems silly. The H55, H60, H80, Antec 620 all came with loud ugly fans too. I owned them all at some point. Still have most of the fans in the garage.

Dom_79 RIGHT! Yes, Sorry ,i meant Sata power! Why do I keep saying molex.....those dont exist any more 😛 Yeah I know its sata power 😀 Thanks man. Again, awesome Rig you have! Just turn off the LED's and tell me what you think.

Not to argue (I just want to make sure I'm not going to have problems soon) : The H100i has a crap pump?

Also I completely agree about the stock fans and the fact that it is expensive for the performance it gives vs. quality air coolers. Fans have good performance but bad and very irritating noise when mounted horizontally.

The pump is considered to be the heart of the loop. If and when the pump fails due to a shot bearing or a dead motor the liquid can't circulate the heat through the loop to pass on to the radiator. Although the fans draw cool air, if you can't circulate the liquid through your loop the rads have nothing to dissipate and thus you'll end up with segregated heat zones where the heatware may end up damaged. The radiators internal construct is of aluminium and the patch that makes contact on the CPU die is made from copper. If all of you remember chemistry, you'll understand what i'm saying by saying Galvanic Corrosion.

All in all, I went to the custom end after I owned an H50 and I went back to square one and learned the roots of watercooling.
Here :)
and for those still leaning on the CLC's I wrote up a CLC subsection, if you scroll down to the last 3rd of the sticky.

StickG1 - I totally agree with you but I dont think its a crap pump.....maybe 100 is too much and I WONT use the stock fans but hey, Im not a cooling master and wiz like you so i cant correct you but..It will cool enough and it looks good.

AHA! Galvanic Corrosion Strikes again (I don't remember it from Chemistry but I do remember it from working as an apprentice mechanic 😉 ) I guess Corsair (and others with similar setup) use an inhibitor in the coolant that provides enough corrosion suppression over a long enough (possibly JUST long enough) time period to cover the warranty (2 years if I'm not mistaken)

To clear things up before I go to bed, Lutij and Onus, I am 100% with you guys. CLC's arent so great but they are JUST good enough for 4.5ghz and gaming and it cools good (H100i) and custom Loops are way better but I cant afford that now and this will do just fine :)

And Dom_79, I know about the CPU fan thing. that plugs into the TOP of the block I think

This is being made a lot more difficult than it needs to be. Get a decent air cooler (any 120mm tower cooler will do; be aware that the Hyper212 EVO, though frequently parroted, is a bang/buck LOSER, costing more than similar coolers, for the same level of performance) and have done with it.

Loving this thread, popping a post on to track it. Being on a tight budget and being the wrong side of 30 these days I have recently completed a build using purely second hand components (except PSU and case). I'm gonna photo it up and post it on here ASAP because as straight forward a build as it is I'm really proud of it!

Amazon.com shipping can be bad to Canada as well. And many things will not ship here. So for instance, if I want an AP15 fan from amazon.com they will NOT ship it to me. Amazon.ca sells it(for 30 dollars more too[imagine a computer fan for 50 dollars. but that is how some sellers who use amazon scam people who have no other locations to buy from].).

It is like anything I want on Amazon does not ship to Canada, but things I do not need do(i know the sellers have a say, but even sold by amazon does this).

I feel your pain for some items shipping rates for sure.

They have some pretty good ones. I'll look for the hwsecrets and jonnyguru's later, but some of them are highly regarded at a decent price point.

But you're right. I have access to all sorts of flavors of Seasonic. No complaints on my X650 Gold, except for the cables being a pain to sleeve. The pins are really tight at the connectors.

I was thinking of giving one of those Rosewills a chance though. Particularly the 450w Capstone. I need a lower wattage unit. But for the price there's so many other options available at the same price point. Or even lower. We'll see.

Naw I'm in the US.

This is weird, there's like frozen stuff coming from the sky. Never seen that before.

I found a place that has the PSUs I want in stock in the US. But they're pretty expensive. Expensive enough where I could get a better Seasonic unit for cheaper.
