Frys' tried to sell me a 220V power adapter one time for like $80 and that was when my dad went to Germany a few years ago. When he got there we figured out the thing was a useless pile of circuitry.

Exaclty. You only need the actual plug adaptors. Most electronics are rated for 110-220V anyways.

but that's just a suggestion... riiiight!?? :heink:

Chances are they did not know that most devices had full range input now.

Many devices may still have 120 volt only power supplies and for those a step down transformer adapters would be required.

Yea they are! ME and Mirakledba both want to becomes pilots. :)

I got an survey for this Backpack of top students from Washington University at St. Louis... The email and certificates check out, but my address and name was prefilled... I am pretty sure this is because of the Student Ambassador thing I applied for, but I need to check.

The question is, what do I get out of this...
I don't exactly feel like giving away even more info of me and my family...
Then again, I use. Chrome so....

Jax - What bossy said :) Still both in High school....but want to become airline pilots. Hopefully.

Guys, ALL OPINIONS NEEDED. I have 931 bucks..I can afford 10 hours of flying...should I do that or wait to get 2500 and have my dad pay the other 2500 (when we sell our other house) so I can pay all at once, or what?

Well seeing the limited job outlook for pilots...

I'm taking an A+ Course for $500 at a community college on the side and once I get my certification I will be able to do part time tech work. If you like computers that may be something to look into. Through my teacher I have connections with entry level jobs starting around 30k which is more than what a starting pilot would earn. Personally I don't think trying to become a pilot is the best career choice, spend a ton of money in flight school only to start off at a low paid salary and slog for years before you have enough work experience to move up. Even then competition will be fierce.

I started college this week, loving it so far. I'm majoring in geology.

30k for a entry level job? That's like $15 an hour. DO NOT take a 30k/yr job with a college education. My GF with a business degree makes 78k her first year out of college.

Also, coming form another geologist, it'll be REALLY hard to get a job doing real geology that pays enough to live with only a B.S in Geology. Make sure to either plan to get a Masters or get a dual degree like I did.

I know, don't plan to just saying that's what he said. After I start working I plan to go back for my masters asap.

edit just realized I can't do work study. Maybe part time IT? job since I have a lot of free time b/t classes. Or advertise on cl. Main reason I'm going for the certification is to build my resume.

I don't care really. Personally, I am not a person who likes to have the ability to throw cash out of a window. If i make average amounts of money, for the amount of time I put in, I don't care. It is a passion, and we can use it as a job and a passion,

It is a passion indeed. Because its almost like you're not working. What bothers me is the potential I have to make more money but It really isnt about the money for me...I just need the support from my family. REALLY, thats all I need. I just dont know how I will train and do college, or if I train after, and How I will pay, etc etc.

Why can you not do work study? Too financially stable and the college wants poor kinds working their way through for better publicity? Bulls***.

I'm all for following your dreams. It is very important. Helps you lead a happy life. BUT I STRONGLY suggest that you go to college and get a degree. Let's be brutally honest. You probably will not become a pilot without joining the army. BUT it is possible. So let's work with that possibility. First you NEED to go to college and get a degree. Then you will be able to start working. Once you start working you will be making enough money (because you have a degree and a good job) to put some away and pay for flight school and eventually get your pilots license and work towards flying as a career. This is the right way to do it.

If you skip college and take loans to do flight school, you will probably not get a job (just how it is) and be poor, with no job to pay it back. Your life would be screwed. Plain and simple.

Please please please go to college and get a degree.DO NOT screw yourself over.I have 2 close friends who fly. Both in the military. One planes and one helicopters. Remember that without being in the military you will basically have no chance to become a pilot. Sad but true. No hard feelings. I just don;t want to see you go all out to try to get something that isn't even really possible anyway.

Go to college, get a degree, and then try to become a pilot. Having a fallback is VERY important.
