Hello everyone, I got a MSI GTX 970 Gaming X OC GPU.

I started noticing an issue some time during cold bootups one of the fan makes a grrrrr sound for around 5 mins then that sound goes away, also now I started noticing one of the gpu fan(right one that's in black color without red plastic over it) starts and stops very 4 or so seconds while the other remains spinning at a consistent rate.... I tried setting a fan curve for it with Afterburner but that still won't affect fan control of that GPU whatever I do... Can somebody help?

Sounds like the fan has run towards the end of it's service life, perhaps dirt or debris is preventing it's rotation or that the bearings inside the fan's motor have worn out.

Perhaps see if replacing the fan changes your experience;

Alright, can you also tell why one fan spins and stops(every 4 or 5 seconds and that's the one that make the sound in cold boots as well)... The spin and stop happens even when temp is in 40s and 50s not yet reached 59-60 where they might be doing it automatically

Update: I gently pressed the fan that was causing issues when it stopped during it's spinning and stoppings, it then didn't stop but fan was moving slowly, I again pressed it gently in it's centre and now spins more properly than before while the other fan feel solid intact it won't press down if I try to press it which ofc is expected, maybe something is loose in that fan that's having issues?

Considering that the card is over 10 years old at this point, its not strange that the fans are starting to fail. You should look if you can replace them or find a good deal on a used newer card.
Honestly speaking I got that card around 4 months ago after selling a 580 2048sp and added a bit of money over it b/c I was frustrated with amd drivers I will keep it for some more time might replace the the fans when they are just at the verge of death for now everything seems ok but surely will replace the fans when it will not be able to keep up completely

I’m sure it’s a feature of the cooler that was common back then when one or both fans would stop spinning at low temps. Download the software and take Zero Frozr off
It ofcourse is, but not in my scenario since I was having the issue in 40s temp giving a gentle push to fan's centre fixed the problem of continuously spin and stop, the fans are old therefore I will some time later order new pair of fans, btw can you tell what software can I use to precicely control fans? After burner does not seem to work for the fans..even if I force the 100% fan speed just to check, they will still stay at there normal speed

My bet would be the MSI Gaming App
