Yup if you live in a major town in Canada you will get good high speed or if you live near the mayors house in a rural town or the town hall lucky you because the town politicians always give to themselves first. They had high speed put in my rural town only at the road that goes to the town hall since 2009 and there has been no expansion of high speed after that were still using dial-up or very expensive bell turbo hub while the town hall enjoys 8Mbps 100gb per month internet for 50$ a month. Real high speed is not just how fast it is because what good is 40mb/s if you can only download 15gb a month. Real high speed is High mb/s high bandwidth and low latency. No we are not pirates if we need lots of bandwidth just 1 game on steam takes over 10gb and updates to all your old games takes hundreds of megs. Diablo 3 takes about 75mb an hour just to play single player. And my town has lost many permanent residents and businesses wont come here due to lack of internet.

[citation][nom]zeek the geek[/nom]3mb/s with 128kb/s up. DSL. It's awful, not to mention paying $70 a month for it, and dial up is $25, this is still in new york, I can't even get a better internet connection where I'm at. With only on internet service and no competition it's a highway robbery.[/citation]Doesn't NetZero still have a $10 dial-up service? I'd see if that were available in your area. I have a backup dial-up account from a local provider in Utah for $14/month. That also gets me a shell account with 5GB of storage. Unfortunately the primary DSL is provided by ScentUsseryStink and that says it all.

I'm just got hughesnet and its the only thing i can get No cable/DSL or 3G/4G what sucks is its a 1MB service and i only see that speed at 3AM-8AM and most of the day are speeds are only 170-260K.

But wildblue got their new service out and its 12MB with a 800MS delay(law of physics) but hugesnet is going to have 20MB soon with their new gen4 service.

I can care less about a 800MS delay but 170-260K is 1/4 are advertised speeds that is were the issue is. With wildblue you only get like 17GB the whole month which sucks more then hugesnet were i get 250MB a day and at night between 2am-7am i get unlimited were i can usally download around 1.5GB. So you take 1.5 and times it by 30 and take 250MB and times it by 30 you get 52.5GB which is way more then any service through wildblue.

My point is it sucks not to have cable/DSL and it sucks even more that were capped so badly(just like 3G/4G)

I can care less if i get 1000GB of internet speed if i'm capped to only 250MB or 2GB/4GB a month.

[citation][nom]slvjpn[/nom]20 US $/15 Euros for:- 100 mbps optical fiber no traffic limit- 7.2 mbps 3G modem/SIM card 5 gigs limit after that 128 kbps.."no" traffic limit as well- Cable TV with premium channels - fixed and mobile phone with decent included minutesguess the country ) ....you are all right, offcourse it's Romania.[/citation]

I wouldn't want a Romanian salary though - or to have to deal with gypsies. But good Lord their women are the most beautiful and down to earth in the world.

[citation][nom]acadia11[/nom]Verizon, ATT, Comcast, Cox, you all Sux giant baby balls! When did the US get happy to let everyone be more technologically advanced than us. Hell China, has a space shuttle now, and we don't... I hate the GOP.[/citation]
i'm pretty sure it's the midwest that's dragging down the US average speed. i have regular ol' comcast and speedtest says my connection is 22.31Mbps, which is higher than south korea's average speed. also, south korea, japan and hong kong have a fraction of the land and population as the US, so they don't have to build near as much infrastructure.

[citation][nom]JohnnyLucky[/nom]Cox Cable is not catching up in my neighborhood![/citation]

Cox in San Diego, seems to have been good for sometime now... The powerboost thing kicks me up to 28mbs.. but I consisntly get 12-13mb, but I recently moved to a place outside City limits... When I lived in more within City limits, I would get the ~30mb via powerboost, and 13-15 regular. Ping times to speedtest.net are typically 75ish.

Can't complain as I can stream on Roku and the kids play Wizard101, and Halo on the 360 all at the same time without issue.
