thermal gel

I have a quick question. How much thermal gel should I place on a processor and how it should cover it?

Just a thin layer enough to cover it. I use a small drop and a credit card to spread it. Some people use a small drop and then let the heatsink spread it. I like to make sure the entire surface is lightly covered. Too little or too much is a problem.
