Question Thermal Pads came out a bit mangled when replacing thermal paste.

So i was relacing my thermal paste on my gpu, when i pulled it apart the thermal pads got really mangled from it, i have tried to put them back the best i can.
Is the gpu ok to use with the thermal pads like that or should i 100% replace them? Not sure what pads i would need.

i have a rtx 2080 windforce.

Sure thought someone would know the thickness of the pads.

I have no idea what they are.
Maybe this video may help with a way to determine since nobody is commenting.

The vid is for a 3080 but his technique and tools may still apply.

From what i searched they seem to be 1 mil thick, ordered some thermal grizzly pads. And i dont see a link to a video at all, dunno if it got removed by auto mod or something.

I dont have a feeler gauge at all so i just had to go via searches, best i could find is that they are 1 mm, searched up “2080 thermal pads” snd thermal grizzly and others were all 1mm.

if it is wrong by like 0.5mm what would happen? Saw someone say they ran without thermal pads and temps were still fine.

I wish i had the money for a aio for my gpu, but i also think itll look weird with two aios.

i didnt spot anything in that tread.

i did use a digital vernier caliper and to what i can see it is a 0.5mm pad for the vram.

Well it was mostly his fan ramping up at 75c and The suggestion of checking the vbios update.

Best to order multiple sizes. 1mm, 2mm and possibly 1.5mm. Ideally you use the thinnest pad that will fill the gap.

Worst thing you can do is undersize them (pretty sure I am in that boat right now, VRMs don't really contact my waterblock significantly) My upcoming vacation I will order a better waterblock (I should probably order in the next few days actually)

played a match and a bit and my card would be trying to take off by now, saw max core temp of 68 and max vram temp of 70, miles better than what it was before.
