I applied thermal paste, installed heatsink, noticed there was a overflow. Removed heatsink to clean and reinstall with less paste. A string o paste oozed onto mobo cpu slot ( very miniscule) cleaned with qtip and rubbing alcohol. I got most of it but a very small amount still lingers in one or two pin slots. Is this a big deal? Pins will still make connection, its not connecting two pins.

However some got on the side of the cpu pins themselves ive cleaned it up as best i can. Again very small amount. Pictures will be attached. Pleae guys.. do you think its safe to put back together or do i need some sort of cleaning kit?

When applying thermal paste: Apply a small dot to the middle of the CPU. When you tighten the cooler it spreads the paste in a very thin film. Too much or improper application causes your problem. Some paste is conductive. Good way to kill the CPU is by improper application.

Thanks for the reply, i understand that and i will be way more careful when applying thermal paste in the future. I uploaded another photo of the pins on my cpu. There is a very small amount across the side of the pins and a little spec inside one of the pin holes on the motherboard cpu socket.

My question is, if i install the cpu with everything in its current state, will i fry my computer? Or is it that little that it should be fine?

Do i need to go out of my way to buy a thermal paste cleaning kit? Or what should i do with it?

Clean off the excess unless it is on the pins. You didn't mention what your CPU is or any other useful information that is requested from the help on this board. Clean as much as you can off the conductive area. I was trying to give you advise on how to apply the paste properly. You can use alcohol, brush or device cleaning kit and a paper towel.
