Thermal paste question

I recently got the ryzen 1600 cpu and it came with a stock cooler with thermal paste pre applied. I put the stock cooler on but then I had a hard time screwing it into my motherboard and I lifted it up and the thermal paste made a bit of a mess on top of the cpu. I finnaly got the stock cooler on and my PC works fine but im a bit worried that I have too much thermal paste. Should I wipe off all the paste and re apply it or should I be good? This is my first time installing a cpu so I was a bit nervous.

That is probably okay since the paste was fresh. If you experience temperature problems later on you can always replace the paste.

It'll be fine, if is a problem it'll be on the order of 2-4C higher than it should be, that's all, nothing lethal.

Okay yeah. The thermal paste that came with the stock cooler had so much on it so was a little worried I had too much.

Thanks I was freaking out when I saw it because some got on the sides but I cleaned it with a q-tip

How will I know if the paste is not working correctly?

you will know if your CPU starts to overheat
