some sites are saying the armor jr will NOT take the 8800GTX card

case list

however, the only proof I've seen thus far is a mocked up photoshop shot combining a rought guesstimate outline of a GTX on a motherboard in a picture of the case.

has anyone with an armor JR actually tried it?

second.

same list is saying the thermaltake Bach VX case will fit the GTX, but thermaltakes own website says you have to remove the hard drive cage to do it. ie no internal hard drive capacity.

again, anyone with a Bach Vx case actually tried this card in this case?

is it a case of dremel? I wonder because the small pictures on thermaltakes site aren't quite enough to judge this by eye.

aha, figured this one out myself and it makes interesting reading.

the Bach VX ain't worth it as to make the GTX fit, it loses you all 5 internal hard drive mounts leaving 4 external 5.25" bays and 2 3.5" bays.

now, for some that might be all right but I have 4 (yes count em) 4 hard drives internally so I NEED the drive bays.

the armour jr layout is more interesting.

theoretically, at the base level, like the Bach VX you have to remove your internal drive cage to make it work,

however, and this was the clever part for the armour, because of the way certain things are laid out, you have an out if you later get a long GTX graphics card.

a) the case is designed for BX motherboard layouts and the internal 3.5" drive cage is designed to go into the external 5.25" bay area taking up two of the bays.

that leaves you 2 external 5.25" bays at the top of the case.

the middle of the fascia has room for a floppy or a 3.5" hard drive

the bottom of the fascia has a 5.25" external bay, and up the side of the fascia there is a 5.25" slot for a raptor drive to be placed side on.

if you don't use that slot for that purpose, then you can mount the power switches there.

sooo, the armor Jr can mount a GTX card and still have 3 5.25" bays free for external devices, an external 3.5" bay + the internal hard drive cage which takes 4 3.5" drives.

much more flexibkle,

armor Jr please.
