False.
Copper is one the easiest and quickest materials to machine on a CNC machining center. It is a very soft material that cuts like butter. Grinding the contact surface flat enough to seat on the GPU wouold be the most time consuming part, but still not enough to warrant the high cost. Show me the print for the part and I'll send you a real quote for the job based on volume.

Seriously these GPUs and CPUs are getting out of control in terms of power and heat dissipation. I miss the old days of passive cooling with or without a heatsink. It's almost like most of the hardware is coming overclocked from the factory now!

Screw this, if your going to go 400 series wait for ASUS' version with built in voltage tweak. then get the Coolit Omni A.L.C. This is definately the cheapest way to get enthusiast performance out of these cards.

[citation][nom]soundefx[/nom]This will limit the sales of these cards even more as most gamers don't have water cooling. But who knows, time will tell.[/citation]

They sold out in about 2 minutes. I got one, it's awesome. Fast, cool and silent.
