I think all of the hatred towards Windows 8 has been generated by users of the OS without a touchscreen. I picked up an Ultrabook for my wife from Asus with a touchscreen, and Windows 8 works quite well. It's funny how for some actions you intuitively go to the touchscreen, while others, straight to the mouse...

Overall, I think its too early to delcare Windows 8 a failure. As touchscreens begin to be more affordable and prevalent, we'll see an increase in the useabilty and acceptance of Windows 8.

I just hoped they could fire him before he totally screws the desktop line of Windows series. W8 is an epic fail - even bigger than Vista: Vista was a fail mostly because of hardware requirements, while W8 are a fail because they want to drive PC consumers to a place they just don't want to go!

Heads needed to rool because of the worthless Win8 that was pushed out. What gets to me is the various magazines and tech site writers that "like" Win8.... it makes me wonder if they are truly power users that produce and work on their computers or just write reviews all day long. I was not nearly as fast and productive on Win8 as on Win7, so I did not upgrade. Stupid Start screen and Metro apps are worthless, no quick access to all my apps (start menu), and just other little annoyances. I didn't notice any real speed difference betwen 7 and 8, so for me there was only a downside to Win8, no improvements at all.

But man, that's exactly THE point. On a touchscreen WIn8 is fine (phones, tablets), it's even nice. But on a desktop/laptop it's stupid and worthless. I can't do any actual work without a freaking mouse and full tactical keyboard - NEVER will (unless they invent mind control, which would be AWESOME!).
