Well, my queues emptied by 3:00 PM EST yesterday. But I don't see points for those 18 WUs I only see points for 3 at least 2 of which were new WU's that just finished. I have a couple of machines I can't monitor, they may have kicked out the 3rd one. Does anyone know how long will it take to get credit for that pile of WUs?

I had a similar fault when my queue stacked up. The only thing I can figure is that the points were already credited upon WU completion, though it didn't seem that way to me.

The short answer: no clue.

Sorry.

I noticed that a lot of the servers are reading as full at any given time I am guessing that the team at stanford isn't quite handleing these things as they can and not quite keeping up. Hopefully I will get credit eventually. So far it doesn't look good though.

hello all. I've recently upgraded to 1950 pro. I would like to use the program that utilizes the gfx but in their faq I've read this:

As in the use of any beta software, please make sure to back up your hard drive, and do not run this client on any machine which cannot tolerate even the slightest instability or problems.

Losing my data!!!!!! wtf! no thanks. What should I do?

well not really all beta cause you to lose all your data!!!! Beta software will usually crash and thats all there is about it. You uninstall it and life goes on. I have never saw a beta software claiming that you will lose all your data, all your hd's will be corrupted etc!!!

So I'll wait for a stable version of it.

Most Beta software comes with such a warning because there is always the posiblility of a bad write or a an interupted write (during a crash) messsing something up on your drive. This possiblity exists with any software, even release, but it is much smaller with software that is fully matured instead of beta.

hey folks, does someone know who's folding as belvdr? this is quite an appearance! 75K in 10 days! wow! congratulations! this average dwarfes even CompDude's or EA's! 8O 😀

Yah, I don't know who belvdr is eather, but I like him :)

He blew by me like my points were going backward 😳

I wonder if he can advise me on how to get one, ore more, of my old PIIIs to perform like that... :lol: Perhaps a bit of tweeking :) Maybe a little overclocking :)

He has, single handedly, turned around our point slideing. Our predicted future production is actually climbing again. 8)

I was pritty well convinced we weren't going to hit a million points this month but we just might make it after all. 😀 It is going to be close but I think we will 8)

I'm just hopeing this isn't a holiday thing that ends in January 🙁

Go Team!!!

Bill

8O That's huge.... He must have a stack of servers under his wing... I have a handful of PC's and a 4 Core Xeon server and I didn't even come close ripping that amount 🙁

**Bows before belvdr....**

Yay, ranked #80 8)

All,

Well, we made the 1 million mark again 8) but just. :cry:

Only 21, 568 over. That isn't much of a margin. 🙁

If it haden't been for belvdr joining us we wouldn't have made it. 8O

Lets see if we can get a bit better margin for January. :wink:

well, i can tell you belvdr is only running 16 processors, that's a huge output for that number of processors!

and i can tell you that he has a TGForumz nick of the same name (using the search function)

and he seems to be a system admin of some type:
Well that was going to be my response. Having an 80GB Access database is asking for trouble. Anything over a few hundred MB, in my opinion, should be moved out of Access.

No matter how fast the disks are, Access will be the bottleneck.

^^from one of his posts^^
i might as well stalk this guy, someone PM him and tell him to post here, i've done my share in finding him 😀

I noticed belvdr yesterday, I'm gonna have to step it up apparently! Good Job belvdr.

"only running 16 processors" - saw that too, holy crap what are they 16 quad core Xeons?

My systems must be getting old or something cause I've had 39 different PC finish WUs in the last 2 months, 21 in the last week.

Fill us in on your secert belvdr :)

Well, I've figured out part of his secret :)
He is processing a new kind of core, new to me anyway. I never saw it before, though I wasn't looking eather :lol:
I am familier with GROMACS, DGROMACS, GBGROMACS, and GROMACS33, even GROGPU, though I don't do those. 8)
He is processing GRO-SMP code :)
Looks like they give you lots of points if you set up your SMP system as such, rather than multiple independant processors, and accept these speciasl projects. 8)
There appears to be SMP clients for Linux and Mac now :)
I don't have a SMP system so you will have to ask someone else how to configure as a SMP client. 🙁
This may help, it is the SMP FAQ from Folding@home :)

Wish I had a SMP system... Sigh... :lol:

Bill

P.S. Almost forgot. Checkout Projects 3020 thru 3027 here, these are the SMP projects. Note the 1 day preferd deadlines for 587-716 pointers :)

Just posted my first work unit for the team and probably my first post as well... I can't even remember when I signed up to the forumz. Its good to see I can support both THG and folding at Home. I'll probably end up submitting 3-4 units a week.

Hey all,

Got a PM from Ara. Evidentally, I had been watching the wrong thread (in the CPU section).

I have 15 HP DL145 G2's (2 x Opteron 252 single core, 4GB RAM, 2 x 80 GB SATA drives) and 1 HP DL385 (2 x Opteron 252 single core, 8GB RAM, 2 x 74GB Ultra320 drives). All systems are stock; I haven't done anything special to them.

I am using the SMP program on the DL385 and 4 DL145's, as the SMP program only supports 64-bit Linux and I have yet to load 64-bit Linux on the other 11 DL145 boxes. Here's my client.cfg:

[code:1:4fce220b76]
[settings]
username=belvdr
team=40051
asknet=no
bigpackets=yes
machineid=1
local=25

[clienttype]
memory=7000
type=3
[/code:1:4fce220b76]

I'm hoping that once I get the other 11 machines loaded with the right version, that the score will jump further. However, I don't have time to load them right now. I just have a plain jane Slackware 11 install on them. I'm glad my work is helping the team.

Unless someone comes along and needs the boxes, they will stay running FaH.

Go Team 40051 (aka THG)!

EDIT: The increased points come from having large amounts of memory. According to their docs, if you have plenty of memory then you can request WUs > 5MB in size. With 15 x 4GB machines and 1 x 8GB machine, I figured I had the RAM to do the job.

I'm apparently folding GROMACS right now - finished one unit last night (and that pushed me up to #200 in the team). They are 50,000 frames each. My E6600 gets in the region of 4 seconds a frame and I'm estimated to finish this one I'm working on now Friday night so they seem to take me about 2 days to complete.

edit: seconds per frame not frames per second....
