hi friends! i need help!

i recently acquired this amber monochrome monitor (which i love dearly), and i finally have the connections ironed out (computer’s 9 pin > female 9 pin / male vga converter > vga / hdmi > my mac - i also tried my old dell laptop), but it won’t display anything. the light turns on when i flip the switch on the bottom, and when i got it off of ebay, the seller confirmed that it was working/not broken. photos of the listing also showed that it was working.

but im not a techie!! i could have 100% screwed up something and in that case, please let me know! i've had it for a few months now and i'm really sad i can't use it. i just read somewhere that it might be that my mac can't go any lower with its resolution? if that's the case, could someone explain that to me? thank you!!

I would almost guarantee the issue lies within the Mac not knowing what to do with it, or the adapters, if not all.

Do you not have a period computer you can pair this with?

It is interesting to note that AOC have been around at least that long. I think they offer a great value in monitors to this day. My current gaming monitor is that brand.

thank you for your response!

yeah, that's my hunch as well. having so many adapters also seems sketchy, but i was so hoping it would work. alas! maybe i'll look into getting a computer that could work with it one day.

thanks again!
