So my friend asked me how much I’d ask if I sold my laptop. I’m unsure of values anymore these days so what would be a reasonable price I should ask?

msi gt72 dominator pro
I7-4710hq
32GB ram
512GB (4xm.2 msata in raid 0)
1TB hdd
Nvidia gtx 980m 8GB gpu
Blu-Ray burner drive
17.3” 1080p display
240w power brick

in excellent condition I’d say

I haven’t decided if I’ll sell it yet. But just trying to get ballpark figures.
Thanks for all the help! :)

Like said above I would do the same as mentioned by giving a fresh install of Windows. Also what year model is the laptop and what was the original price you bought it for?

According to laptopmag I saw some of the prices for the model listed above. If it was me I would do the same and probs sell at a discount rate of 150-175 as mentioned by @ThirtyTwoCigarettes.

A laptop with 6 year old parts will be worth much less than 150 less than when it was new. It will be less than half the cost when new considering how much a new system that is faster and with a warranty will cost. No one will pay even a $1,000 for a 6 year old system, the risk of it failing is too high and the specs don't justify the cost.

But what you ask for it does not mean what it will sell for, price it at whatever price you want to, if it does not sell, lower the price. You may get a higher price on eBay, I see people buy stuff at higher prices there than on sites like craigslist but then you need to deal with the shipping and fees eBay and PayPal take out.

I would put it on Ebay at $450 for a starting bid at a week. If no one bites then try selling it by parting it out. You can probably make more money by parting it out as well.
