This document failed to print

Hi...I am running windows XP...when I send something to my HP printer the resume light keeps blinking and I get the error message 'this document failed to print'...any ideas???...thanks

1)See if print spooler is running.
Start > Run > services.msc

Scroll down to Print Spooler - Should say started.


2)Search your computer for *.spl

These are old spooler print files which may be causing problem - delete them

Hello...print spooler is started...search for *.spl did not give any results back...anything else I could try?...this is driving me nuts...I have a couple important e-mails I HAVE to print right away...thanks

Click on printers in control panel
Click on printer
look at documents in queue and try to restart them.

Check in device manager to see if an error is reported.
Also check in event viewer for errors.

Also
Remove and reinstall the print cartridges. Verify that the print cartridges are in the print cartridge cradle before pushing them forward into position.
Verify that no obstruction prevents the print cartridge cradle from moving freely on the rod.
Verify that the vinyl tape has been removed from each of the print cartridges.
