This is the best chip

If you can find a 1.2 that would be faster. What you can do though is buy the 1.2 and change the mult to say 9 and run the FSB@133 and get very close to 1.2ghz (1197mhz). If you want to overclock it though most 1.2's will hit 1263mhz (9.5x133).

soup.

AMD for Life!

your post worries me, as does your link.

1. the mobo chipset determines if DDR is supported, not the processor (most Socket A durons and athlons should work)

2. the link does not say if the athlon is a B or C.

3. if it is an atlon B in a DDR mobo 133 bus you will have
to unlock the L1 bridges and underclock it (reduce the multiplier) to compensate for the higher FSB unless you run
DDR 1600 which is a bummer performance wise i would wait

I thought that the newer mobo's for pc133 could do all overclocking in the bios, no need to unlock the bridges?

you do overclock in the bios. You just set the settings in the bios. you still need to close the bridges so you can set the multiplier.

Satan Clara...... 'Nuff said.

I think most Athlons are now being shipped with the L1 bridges closed. My 1.2GHz was. AMD is probably expecting many users to change their clock settings to a 133MHz FSB * (CPU clock/133) setting. Not overclocking it, so the CPU should handle it easily, but still getting the performance boost from that extra 33% FSB speed.

I was not stating this is the best processor..I was asking if this "is" the one that is the best processor from AMD...In other words I was asking if it's the C processor..Which I obviously see it is not.

So does anyone know site selling 1.1 Athlon C 266FSB (im going to use A7M266) processor....or are athlon C's only at 1.2 ghz...

Thanks.

I might have answered my own question..There is no 1.1 Ghz at the 266 FSB....From AMD's site: Wierd that they skip the 266 for the 1.1 ghz

1200MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $363
1200MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $330
1133MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $319
1100MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $290
1000MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $256
1000MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $233
950MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $193
900MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $172

yes I know..I find it wierd that they skip the 1.1 ghz 266 it goes 1.0 266 to 1.133 266 to 1.2 266

Anyone know good price/site for the 1.133 or even better, site that bundles it with an ASUS A7M266 mb

At www.hardocp.com they have sneek pics of the stock AMD 1300MHZ, so wouldn't this be considered the fastest now? lol

Ah I get it now...are they calling it 1.1 when its 200 FSB and 1.113 when its 266 FSB or are they interchangeable.

It would be great to know if I am getting 1.113 then its the Athlon Class C 760 series

the pic is of a 200FSB but they are producing 266FSB already

it should be being sold i believe in 2-3 weeks

What you think best price/performance/oc ratio.... AMD 266 at 1.1 1.2 or 1.3....

BTW.... 1.3..it's AMD 760 series right?
