google for Allwinner A10 benchmark.

Allwinner A10 can hardware decode 1080p 60fps (i tested with my a10 tablet) or the rumored 2160p 24fps as long as the data stream can catch up. Can even support soft sub (SSA/ASS) with mxplayer.

BTW, A10 can only run at 1Ghz without heatsink. the marketed 1.5ghz is it's maximum overclock-ability. overclocking the chip even for 20% may damage it.

[citation][nom]belardo[/nom]Somehow I get the feeling these are way more powerful than our old Commodore, Apple, Amiga, Atari ST, Windows95 PCs from 15+ years ago.[/citation]

I have a refrigerator that has a control panel that's prob. more powerful. 🙂

Get a decade back in time performance wise, just because it's tiny.... it's still pretty neato though but I would never buy it.

[citation][nom]memadmax[/nom]I wish... M$ would frickin shrink their OS to do crap like this....[/citation]
Windows is a powerful platform.

The Gigabyte Assassin version is shaped like a bullet and can kill. Your cluster server will be in the form of a AK47 magazine and powered by an 8 port USB hub.

Only problem with a PC this small is virus removal could mean a cycle through the washing machine.

[citation][nom]ohim[/nom]While this is amazing as it is ... just imagine the computing power of a smartphone .. remove the need for batery , and it`s own display .. let only the PC inside it and peripherials , and you get an even more powerfull computer that could easly fit in a keyboard`s or mouse insides! ... imagine a Mouse with that inside and some kind of wireless connection to an 105" TV for a personal computer.[/citation]

Keep in mind most smart phones cost at least 500 bucks off contract.

get a raspberry pi instead - half the price

Amazing stuff. There'll probably be some workaround to run other OS's on it I'm sure. Would like to try one but it said something about attaching a power supply to it? That thing is way too small for any port to supply enough power I reckon.

Very nice, granted i wouldn't want an Android based PC. But i would throw one of the various linux distros on it as the article suggests.

I would love to have a small SOC system like this just to play around with it.

While these low-cost machines are impressive for their price, they always seem to be lacking a little here or there. Looking for more 1+ GB RAM (4GB DDR3 is $20 on newegg) and something that can handle the higher bitrate of Blu-ray (regular or maybe 3D), before I will it consider for a serious media center. So far, I've just seen Tegra 3 and Raspberry Pi advertise that level of performance, but I haven't seriously looked. I'd probably also want 1Gbit wired Ethernet (faster & more reliable), but I suppose wireless works.

Better yet, I could just get a Tegra 3 (or newer) smartphone and have a dock attached to my TV. Maybe they will stop gypping the US on phones before I'm up for an upgrade in 15 months.

Please integrate it into my laser-mouse!!! 😀 Alongside some el-cheapo Li-Po of course....
