Probably explains why the OSX market share has dipped down below 5% again and dropping further every day. It's a real shame. If the iPhone, iTunes and App Store weren't propping it up the hardware division would probably be in ruins.
[citation][nom]mj4358[/nom]Thats just you being cheap![/citation]
I certainly dont have a cheap system, but what I do demand is value for my money.

A Mac Pro, just look at the memory options. It's ECC registered memory sure, but to go from 24Gb to 32Gb is an additonal £800 ($1120) and it even tells you the configuration is in multiples of 4Gb chips, that's £400 ($560) per chip.
Neither you nor anyone else can honestly tell me that having those memory chip put in by Apple instead of by myself will make it less obscene.

First hit, £121 ($170), per chip - and it even says it is for use in a Mac Pro straight on the site.
I dont know about you but that is totally disgusting. sure by all means spend your money on whatever you want, but deep down you already know that you have just been bent over a barrel by Steve Jobs, had the orange ball gag put in your mouth and Zed just brought out the gimp.

I wish I had a dime evertime i here "If the iPhone, iTunes and App Store weren't propping it up the hardware division would probably be in ruins." line!
The simple fact of the matter is.....Apple is viable because people do Like thier product!
This statement is bull....."Probably explains why the OSX market share has dipped down below 5% again and dropping further every day. It's a real shame. If the iPhone, iTunes and App Store weren't propping it up the hardware division would probably be in ruins."

[citation][nom]irh_1974[/nom]It's obviously more flexible than OSX though.Picking apart something that occasionally happens to a vast minority for something that Apple doesn't even do at all is a bit rich.[/citation]
I could have cited more examples. If you change out your video card, even to one from the same manufacturer, you'll need to re-install your drivers. Hell you can install the same board but with a different Vendor ID and it will still think you need new drivers. Windows is a Plug & Play & Safely Remove OS.

If you really want something modular then you need to look at Linux (and preferably not a botched-up distro like Ubuntu). On-demand kernel module loading is where it's at. In most cases, providing the kernel contains the required modules, you can pull out your HDD and stick it into another PC and it will Just Work (TM). Windows would have a panic attack.

US only sales figures, US is not the world.
But interesting line at the bottom there...
Neither Gartner nor IDC saw Apple break into their top 5 vendors for worldwide shipments, where Gartner sees Toshiba holding down the fifth spot with 5.1% share
So Toshiba is at 5.1% worldwide market share and Apple is somewhere below it. Yep. Thank you for confirming my facts for me.

[citation][nom]mj4358[/nom]Apple is viable because people do Like thier product![/citation]
By the way, I noticed no comment about the overpriced RAM options
No one "likes" being hosed

"and dropping further every day."

How are they dropping every day? You didn't confirm anything because you didnt stated world wide sales...Big difference!
Besides I doubt Apple hardly cares when you 40 billion in the bank and no debt with less than 5% WORLD WIDE market share! They are worth more than Dell as far as Market capitalization.
So for all your indignation of Apple for being "closed" and over charging for their hardware; I seriously doubt they will change their business strategy to appease the widows crowd.
So instead of crying about the price of Apple...pray Windows will make a better os so you don't have to Hack OSX to use it. And please don't so say Apple should open up and allow OSX to work on any hardware because that is really a lame argument when you have 40 bil in the bank and a vertical business strategy got them to where they are now!

[citation][nom]mj4358[/nom]Rant rant rant without a hint of proof[/citation]

How can you blame someone else for delivering only partial proof, if you yourself deliver none at all?
You don't disprove someone's claim simply by saying "it's bull" ; something you seem to have taken a liking to.

It's okay that you don't think you've been deceived. But don't make the mistake to think we're just as ignorant as you.

During all your rant, the only truthful comment I've seen is the part of your last post, where you explain that Apple doesn't care about pleasing the windows crowd. And ofcourse they don't. Why would they try to please their rivals customers? Persistently ignorant people are hard to come by. Apple has to use their resources keeping those they've already got.

Apple's got money in the bank because they 1) charge a huge premium so you can be proud of being one of the Apple users. 2) because they've got really good lawyers that make sure the EU and other entities don't complain about them like it happends to companies that don't employ censorchip and slavery.

Well what's your proof? You spout a bunch of garbage without any proof yourself? Must be nice to be just as ignorant as Apple users!
As far as Apple users being ignorant...I would say windows users are guilty of the same for the simple fact that Windows consistantly makes a buggy, virus haven OS and simpltons like yourself keep making exscuses for them. At least I have the common sense to try a different brand/OS instead of accepting whatever Windows throws your way. And yes Apple does cost more than your PC but at least it works. Im not making McAfee and Norton richer just so I can use the damn thing on the internet.
I have a question? For all the hatred of Apple...why are you windows lemmings hacking the OSX to use? Thought windows was the best for the supposed Tech Geek, people who supposedly know how to work/fix (mostly fix) a computer? Why the indignation regarding apple not making the os work on your hardware? Why do you care?

And the last incoherant rant in you post...what the hell are you talking about? Before you try to insult someone at least have a cogent thought!

What you regard as facts puzzle me! Seriously. What proof do you have, which backs up the claim that windows is buggy? Provide me some statistics proving that it's ridden with unpatched bugs please. And while you're at it, dig up some proof that apple always works and windows doesn't. Which you just put up as simple fact above. While you dig up those facts, could you please tell me what proof you expect me to find for you? Appearently I wrote a bunch of garbage in your eyes, but since I don't seem to read the same as you, I don't know what you want me to prove.

Now with regards to mcafee and norton. I don't think anyone indicated that you had to pay symantec or any other company a fee to use the internet? Windows, or any other os really, isn't going to limit your use of the internet based on what brand of security software you're using, or even demand you to use any in the first place. It's your choice. But ofcourse as an apple user you're afraid of choice.

Now for your hacking question, I can't answer it it completely as I'm no hacker. But I assume one good reason is the challenge. There's a challenge to hack all major systems once a year. And in addition I suppose there's some sense of pride in disproving ignorant claims of one system or another being secure. Incidently mostly the system Apple uses.
I personally do not support censoring and senseless consumption for the same of consumption, so I'm not buying mac at all. I tried an imac 233mhz once, but it ran yellowdog and windows 95 slower than the trusty k6-166 it was meant to replace. We bought 6 of them I remember. A year later I gave em away to some poor soul. I'll never make such a mistake again in my life. It was then, that I learned to think instead of following the average idiot like yourself.

As for the last part of my last post. I suppose if you're ignorant enough to not have noticed companies like intel and microsoft being targetted by eu people, there's little chance you'll know what it's about. Sorry about that, but you don't seem capable of learning, so I'll not bother explaining it better than this.

Oh, and I believe insulting someone who doesn't posess dignity is impossible, so I didn't attempt that. I merely disagree enough with your rant to spend a little time making that fact known. Just in case someone else accidently starts to believe your posts.

Like I asked you previously....Where are you fact? You have alot of words posted but nothing to say! Besides what does the EU have to do with the U.S.? I'm very aware of the why the EU is targeting the Intel and Windows...the questions what makes you qualified to assume this would apply to Apple? Seeing as to how you think you know what your talking about , Please enlighten us supposed ignorant Apple fans?
This semi cogent rant you just posted prove nothing regarding as to why Apple should be forced to open OSX to everyone. NOTHING!!

Please Shut up! Or provide a truely good reason as to why Apple should appease you. And keep in mind COGENT thoughts only! No conjecture based on your personnel bias and feelings to what you think is fair.

Calm down guys. You can debate without getting personal.

That was a fun debate... Although it is correct that you can build a MacPro clone for half the price, with the exact same server processor, and a better mobo, and still boot OSX. Also, you can buy a $1200 laptop that matches a $2800 MacBook, has a better warranty, and can boot OSX on it.

They do inflate the price of their hardware to stupid high amounts, and add no value but build quality and OSX out of the box.

Im a Windows user but when I want to mess around with OS X, PearPC baby! Runs in Windows and I have installed 9.2 all the way up to Leopard and each runs fine. Im no fan boy, I just like messing around every once in awhile.
