I'd up the AIO's surface area for the processor, outside of that I'd look into a Gen 4 SSD for the larger drive if that's the game library. For day to day operation, the Gen 3 drive can be for the OS/app's/launchers. No spinning drives?

Intel's making a mess of things with the power usage numbers. In fact they reinvented the term nm when it came to lithography...talk about reinventing the wheel. I seriously am hoping that Intel comes back into the race. If your friend wants to overclock, that number will need to be exaggerated.

Might require a bios flashback after running a speed test. If I remember correctly, a lot of SSD manufacturers including Samsung were gimping their products due to the mining craze.

Just to say, a very solid build. Even without the changes. But refining it is worth it.

My only suggestion would be something you've pointed out already with the SSD's. You can get an 980 Pro 2tb for just 40-50 bucks extra. Still fits within budget, and also still some room, depending on prices for GPU etc.

The HX is a really good choice, with excellent transient response on all rails, so will handle the 4080 power spikes easily enough.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm thinking the 4080 16GB is a bit overkill for 1440. That has me thinking the cheaper 4080 12GB might be better suited for that resolution.
