Not sure if this is the right thread to post this on but here goes.
For a little context, right now I have 2 24' 1080p monitors (One is IPS @60hz the other TN @144hz) and I'm looking to potentially upgrade to 1440p or 4k gaming
I have a Ryzen 2700x + GTX 1060 6gb.
If I decide to upgrade to 4k I will probably just upgrade my GPU to a 3080 or 6800 XT since I dont think a cpu upgrade will be a meaningful upgrade.
If I upgrade to 1440p then I will have to upgrade both my CPU and GPU. Likely a 3080 or 6800XT as well.
I will also be getting monitor upgrades so a 27' 1440p 144hz ips and another monitor at the same resolution but 60hz or the same but with 4k.
My question is first, is there a big difference between 1080p and 1440p, and 1440p to 4k?
Second, Is it preferable to play on 1440p Ultra @ 144hz, 4k Ultra @60hz, or 4k medium @144hz?
For reference I play shooters but also a bunch of other games.
Would love to hear thoughts
Thanks
