hi everyone!!

i'm looking to build a new computer. I currently have a pretty good rig at the moment that i built 2 years ago but i'm thinking i want to upgrade to the latest and greatest.

this is my current build

and the link provided at the top is my new build... it's way over my budget. i was thinking around maybe like 1100 or 1200 is the most i want to spend. but i wouldnt be mad if i could spend less :)

please give me your thoughts! I would be using this PC primarily for heavy gaming and also work. but mostly gaming.

thanks

Nothing really wrong with your current build now, I'd just chuck a 1070 in there and away you go. 3570k is just as fast as a 4690k clock for clock, and the 4690k is still very current.

If you want to upgrade to the latest and greatest as well, I would certainly be looking at Skylake platform with DDR4 RAM

oo really? i was thinking maybe putting in an SSD for my OS because it runs a bit slower than my brothers whose OS is on an SSD.

so you think i should just stick to my current build and swap out the video card. anything else you think would need upgrading?

Your current build just need the 1070, the SSD (but 256GB+ version), and the SuperNOVA G2 from the hypothetical new build (although you'd only need the 550W version since your MB doesn't support SLI); and maybe some extra DDR3 to round it out.

That's all it take to give it an amazing boost.

Putting your OS onto a SSD will result in way quicker boot times and will open programs and files much quicker that are installed on it.
Add a SSD and 1070 and you will be set.
You can also add an extra 8gb of RAM if you want, its ridiculously cheap now.

I agree with patriotic pickle.

Upgrade to 16gb of ram, maybe get a SSD for your OS, get a GTX 1070, and call it a day.

You are gonna be tremendously disappointed in that system you built. It will barely game any faster and you've wasted money on 32GB of ram that you really don't need.
