Discussion Tidal exclusive Mode behavior.

If this is wrong Area, another mod can change it as it was a guess

So recently I got an Aune S9C Pro DAC/headphone amp with the intention of using it to replace the sound card in my PC.
It has its own drivers which I have installed off their website. They are the latest ones - Version 5.68.0.29418

It only plays High & Max quality files if I set it to exclusive mode in Tidal settings. Very few files on Tidal are anything else.

and obviously blocks any programs from using it while Tidal is open.

At first I just lived with this as I could just use Speakers to listen to videos.
It just didn't make sense to me that it blocks usage even when Tidal app is closed. I don't have it set for auto start with windows, and it happens even on a clean startup.

I see exclusive mode works at driver level. Bypasses wasapi

Problem is it doesn't change the setting on shutting App down so it would block usage of Aune by any other app regardless.

This took me a while to figure out that disabling exclusive mode was the answer.

Now I have to change setting every time I use the app.

coincidence... Tidal updated the Desktop app. It now disables Exclusive mode on shutdown. I only noticed as I wasn't getting any sound and checked the settings and it was off.
