I'm playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 offline only. The EA website
mentioned some tutorial scenarios, "Action Play Now (or Scenarios via the
Game Modes option) and play through all 30 scenarios"? I can't find
this--where?

How do I improve my driving distance? I keep trying World Tour TPC at
Avenal, Long Drive, and come up short of the competition--always--only got
bronze one time out of six attempts so far. I have gold in all other
categories at this course but my Long Drive is dismal. Is my swing Tempo
the problem--very seldom good...usually slow or fast? No Driving lessons
so far. Tutorials could really help me understand the mouse mechanics--or
free Lessons or Lessons?

Currently all my player attributes are about 2/3 across the Amateur range
with the bar potential going to 1/2 through the Professional range. What
attribute(s) extended would improve my Driving distance... Long Game...
Power?

What is "Long Game" and "Short Game"? Is there a glossary or explanation
of golf terms anywhere?

Thank you for the help.

There are lessons available in the Career mode... I think. It's been a
while since I went through that, and if I recall, I skipped most of what I
could.

Check your equipment. Forged clubs, stiff shafts and two-piece distance
balls will help you with the distance. I opt for control and use
lightweight perimeter weighted clubs, two piece balls, and senior shafts. I
prefer a slower tempo, although it means I give up 15-20 yards off the tee.
Again, I'm pretty sure these "lessons" are in the career mode, although they
aren't clearly labled as to how to get to them. Maybe in what they call
the World Tour mode.

I found that I had to inflate my power attribute above all others to compete
early on. The long game attribute (or however it's defined) is not as
important while in amateur play because TrueSwing is more forgiving to
errors there. You need to funnel all of your $$ to power to compete with
the computer players.

long game is the ability to manipulate and control longer shots. the short
game applies to pitches, flops, and chips. These will be of value to you,
coming up through the ranks, than the long game skills will be. Once you
get your "power" attribute up to where you're moderately comparable to your
opposition, I would advise spending your cash on short game and putting in
equal doses.

This web site will probably be of some help to you. It's called the Tiger
Woods Community. There are tutorials and links to tutorials there.

BTW, TW 2005 will be out toward the end of this month. I think you'll see a
lot of the community support swing towards it in the coming months. TW 2004
is a nice game though... the best PC golf game I've ever played.

I cannot find this stuff. I suspect it is an online only thing?

Haven't figured out how to select these feature varieties yet. I can buy
several different drivers now but where do I select the shaft type? I
think it is to soon for me in any case.

There are golf lessons you can buy but none I have access too are about
driving. I have taken all 5 lessons I have access too--you get a green
check mark. They each cost $750 and were finished in nothing flat.

If you take a lesson over again does it build your skill further or is it
just practice that doesn't count? I would think taking the same lesson
over and over again would be accomplishing something if you need it or why
would EA make you pay for it all over again?

I did this and it worked perfect. The World Tour Long Game I was stuck in
for so long I beat easily after upping Power. Thanks! Now I need to turn
my focus back to my Short Game. LOL.

Yes, I've heard about this. Do you know how 2004 will integrate into 2005?
Can you continue all of 2004's course work and move into 2005 all in 2005?
Any reason why I need to finish 2004 before I start 2005?

Thanks.

Susan, I don't think so... it has been so long since I did them that I can't
recall. I tell you what, I'll have another go at it and tell you what I
find. I'm sure that you don't have to go online for them though.

I believe that they are found in the Gameface section. Please forgive me,
I'm beta testing the 2005 version, and I may be confusing some of the option
layouts. Some of the equipment is locked until you win certain career
challenges. The shaft types and clubheads are a bit hidden at first glance.
It's all in the Gameface section, but the shaft and clubhead types are not
shown as equipment. You have to drop down a menu to the right to make
another choice with these.

I don't think it helps you to take a lesson over and over again. I think
your answers are going to be found in the equipment and ball types.
Honestly though, I wouldn't worry *too* much about distance. If you can
average 285 off the tee in this game, you'll be fine.

The putting attribute extends the range of the grid. This will help you in
longer putts. The short game will give you access to flop and pitch shots,
which are mucho importanado.

Well, the courses from 2004 will be fully functional in 2005. The career
mode will not carry over, however. I'd recommend that you go ahead and get
some experience with 2004's career mode. It will serve you well in 2005, if
you decide to purchase it. Work on developing a repeatable swing, and don't
fret too much over not being able to achieve a "good" tempo score each time.
I swing the club slowly, by preference, and my tempo is usually gauged to be
"slightly slow" or "slow". It doesn't hurt my distance that I can tell
because I use senior shafts, which are geared for slower tempo swings. If
you tend to swing the club fast, and get "fast" tempo reports, then you
definitely need to look into getting stiff shafts.

Hope this helps...
