Tightening timings on Corsair XMS2

I just recently ordered this RAM for my new AM2 build. Will I be able to bring the timings down to say 4-4-4-12/15 without much of a problem? Does tightening the timings put more of a strain on the memory than simply overclocking their speed? Thanks.

I just ordered it from newegg yesterday. It comes at 5-5-5-15.

With those timings I assume it's the PC8500 memory (1066 MHz). I have those modules and have been able to run them completely stable with 4-4-4-12-2T @ 956 MHz (with Oblivion max settings 1280x1024)

Er woops...5-5-5-12. It's PC6400, but hopefully the same holds true for both sets of memory.

Is a tRas of 12 really that much better than a tRas of 15?

Personally I'd choose the 6400C4 over the 6400C5 as the price difference isn't that big...

I would go with OCZ Platinum Revision 2 ddr2-800 for $190 after rebate on newegg.

It has timings of 4-4-4-15, which gives better performance than the Corsair 5-5-5-12 for only 10 bucks more! Also it looks freaking sweet.

I just bought the Corsair PC6400 Pro from Tiger last week for my new Conroe build. No problem changing timing to 4-4-4-15. The MB auto set it at 5-5-5-15. For some reason, the Intel D075XBXLRK won't allow me to bring the 15 down to 12. I also ask, how much difference does this make?

I haven't started to OC yet so I don't know about that. The system is already lightning fast. My addiction is BF2 and I now spawn in a minute before anyone else. I have to wait for someone to frag. Sure beats my old AMD3200+Barton...

My Asus M2N might have problems with that memory. That's the main reason I bought the Corsair. I have to go off to college soon I don't really have that much time to be RMA'ing.

P.S. Hey RedRaider isn't it Audigy ZS, not SZ? Correct me if I'm wrong. I just got an Audigy 2 too, but not the ZS/SZ. How does it sound?
