That's been around for a good long while. I'm mostly mobile, a good 95%, and Tom's works easily on Android. I actually prefer it to desktop mostly, although when getting into cut/paste it's the same as any other phone and a little cumbersome. Desktop is much easier for builds, and more advanced stuff, but for just answering posts, mobile is nice. I just stuck a link on phone homepage. No worries, brings me straight to forum page.

I asked the mods about it years ago and it was basically explained that whatever browser you use will be more compatible and far less buggy than whatever they could code. I believe the Italian app was originally written by a user, not Tom's personnel, so trying to duplicate that runs into permissions and...

When you consider the amount of work going into keeping just this site as bug free as possible with Windows frequent aggravated updates, trying to also stay on top of app code is just extra work.
