I will have to go with Wizardry 8. The Legend of Grimrock series satisfied that craving for an old school dungeon crawler game like the earlier wizardry games but they don't achieve the massiveness of exploration or the excitement of finding a new enemy and wondering what great loot it will drop. A wizardry 9 game with updated graphics and mechanics would keep me entertained for years.

Sid Meier's Pirates! needs a proper remake. It could be so good. Naval battles, sword fights, trading, there was just a lot going on in that game.

I would like to see Final Fantasy Tactics remade as well. There just doesn't seem to be anything out there like it anymore. Update the graphics, leave the story & mechanics alone for the most part.

As mentioned, I like the idea of a new KOTOR as well.

Most of these have been said, but a KOTOR or Sid Meier's Pirates! would be great. Action RPGs have been kept fresh with Path of Exile, D3, and smaller offerings like Van Helsing and Victor Vran, so I can't really imagine a necessary update there. We've also had some nice recent RPGs like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity - Original Sin.

I rather enjoyed Might and Magic 7, so I'd love a remake of that since the recent Might and Magic X was stuck to grid navigation.

Can I get a dwarf fortress remake with graphics? That would be lovely...

I'm with duckandchiken, Chrono series should have a sequel and The Last Remnant should have a sequel with more in-depth strategy. I would also like a single player focused MechWarrior sequel. The recent MP one was okay but I need a SP campaign and story. Square Enix is already working on FFVII remake but I would prefer a FFVI remake.

my go to, Mirrors Edge, is at last getting hopefully a wonderful remake.

of the star wars games out there, i think Republic Commando is the most overlooked for getting a sequel or remake. it managed a neat cover and squad command system for its time and placed the player in a truly unique position in the star wars universe, far away from all Jedi. the story was solid, game play great, and it had quite a cliff hanger ending. as a mater of fact it was in the process of getting a sequel around the 2006 time period in the form of Imperial Commando, however it got scraped along with everything else LA had cooking at the time in favor of putting more light sabers on everything star wars, despite some of the series' best games lacking them entirely... obvious points of improvements though can be made in the AI, there's some really dumb things your squad mates will do, along with i feel opening up the levels for some individual interpretation on on how to finish and more control over who in the squad does what and goes where.

Oh, and if the remake/sequel lacked co-op, it would be a crying shame as its a wonderfully ripe for the picking opportunity to make your squad mates your friends rather than just AI.

I've just read through all of these and I agree with a lot. When I read the question for the contest, I immediately knew what my post would be. I can't believe after reading the above that it was not already there! I wast to see a remake/sequel to Shadow of the colossus. I know there was an HD release for PS3 but it still needs more! What I would change to make it better would be a little more cut scenes to get more story and some of the game mechanics. Also, a little more variety it killing the colossus rather than always getting on it. There should be other things to do to kill it. This game was so great because it was really a first of it's kind and when it came out, it had beautiful graphics even though we were in the PS2/XBOX days. Imagine how beautiful it could be now!!

I know that it's already in the works, but I would say Dishonoured, because of all the choices you could make in a single level and how they could affect the rest of the game. Hopefully the story isn't as "surprising" as the first one.

Or the original Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty/Battle for Arrakis. The one that started all the RTS games that followed.

I don't want to start a conspiracy thread here, but the Half-Life series is the one and only game that needs a sequel. A very close 2nd contestant would have to be the Mechwarrior series, even though they have the mediocre online game right now.

a remake of the first dragon age with better graphics and combat system would be fun, the spell combos and hidden lore makes it the best dragon age imo

My vote is for Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam. BFBC2 stripped the vehicle combat down to what was absolutely necessary for the game to feel like a part of the Battlefield franchise, and the Vietnam expansion made it possible for a single individual to take the lead in capturing bases and taking down choppers in a way that the normal BF releases can't. I think that all the Vietnam expansions for the BF series are great, but BFBC2 Vietnam had the most replay value for me. Team work was very important in this version of the game, but unlike BF4 a single individual could turn the tide and lose their lead just as quickly.

Half-life 3 with a new engine and a lot of the features that Cinematic Mod brings to HL2 such as the fishbowl. I'd honestly like a total re-vamp of the original Half-life, for nerds with crazy good graphics, very detailed and amazing story. I love the story line of that more than HL2. Half life: Black Mesa is awesome but would love to see what Gearbox could do with it.

Could also go with a remake of RealMyst for a later Myst story.

Doom4!

One game that can use a reboot is Onimusha. I remember the characters moving in a static image more than a playable world. With today's technology that world can be be brought to life with atmospheric effects making it into a terrific game again.

Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar - redone in VR.
This series is overdue for a remake. There are plenty of games that have us overcome evil, almost nothing out there that emphasizes the power of virtue. I know there's an MMO coming, but a singular story has been the hallmark of the original series. Put in in VR and let us live in the world as we once did, when we did simple quests like baking bread to feed someone.

I'd love to see Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura taken into the open world like Skyrim or Fallout. A world with Magic and Steampunk together would be such a rich place to explore. I liked that technology and magic were both powerful but didn't work around each other. Besides, my character would totally be sporting the Tesla Top-hat to deflect arrows.

I also miss X-wing, that would be a nice remake with modern technology and graphics. The mission briefings and different locations made it feel like you were really moving towards those final movie encounters. You could almost make an MMO, but those are always terribly light on stories, which is what made the first X-wing so much fun to play.

I would love to see a follow up to the STALKER series. I know the Metro games were made by some of the same devs, but I really loved the atmosphere and tone of the STALKER games, as well as the open world.

All of them of course ;]

..to add something new to the thread, ..Combat Arms? because it is the only online mp were I've managed to make some kills besides constantly helplessly dying, and I just don't like it to dissapear.

So I wish for a remake of this game with an updated engine, effective anti-cheating measures and that it lets me keep all my stuff 😛

I'd love to have a sequel to one of the best games you have never played: Infested Planet. Infested Planet is a 2D top-down kind of hybrid of tower-defense and RTS, where you use a combination of marines and tech to stop the advancing hordes of little slug-like aliens. You really mow them down in droves as you attempt to capture all the nests on the map. Randomly-evolving enemy upgrades, randomly-generated maps, attractive art style, pauseable real-time action; all help make it such a compelling enjoyable experience for an indie game. If you have played Creeper World 3 then you understand what I mean. I'd love to see Infested Planet 2 with new units, upgraded graphics, and improved interface.
