It's time for another Tom's Hardware Steam giveaway! We have three copies of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS available to win. Duke it out in a free for all 100 player battle on a 8km by 8km island. I've been playing BATTLEGROUNDS on and off for the past couple weeks and found the game to be TENSE, as in, screaming like a small child TENSE.

You all know the drill: enter the raffle above and answer the discussion prompt below for your chance to win one copy of PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

And now, for the discussion prompt:

What's your favorite online shooter? Is it a co-op or versus? Have a favorite story to tell?

My favorite online shooter was (and still is) Battlefield Heroes.

I played the Battlefield Heroes daily for about 3 years until the servers were taken offline. It appealed to me since there wasn't any gore, it was in 3rd person view and i love the cartoon theme it had. I had heroes of every class and on the both sides but i loved playing most as a Royal gunner. My favorite map was Wicked Wake.
Also, the new content preview trailers made before releases are also fun to watch, even years after the game closure, e.g the Aliens trailer,

I'll have to stick to the throwbacks and say that my favourite online shooter is of the Battlefield series. Specifically Battlefield 3. But since BF3 servers population began to dwindle, I have no problem with BF4 at all, aside from missing old maps from BF3.

I really like playing Overwatch, Killing Floor 2, and Killing Floor. I still play KF because I have a lot of friend who still play that game on one particular server... it's a nice community. I play KF2 because I'm still leveling up my perks. Overwatch is just a fun and competitive game for everyone. I have not played PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUND because I don't have the game. I'd love to win a copy! Fingers crossed! Thanks!!

My all time favourite was MAG on PS3, sadly cant play it anymore since the servers are offline, so many good memories tho, easily spent more than 2000 hours in the game, but thats the past. Right now im enjoying Battlefield 1 a lot, the new Frontlines mode quickly became my favourite mode it's crazy good!

My favorite online shooter will always be Battlefield 2. Participating in 64 player battles and finding that perfect little sniper perch, shooting people out of helicopters, driving tanks full speed down hills into the enemy, still brings back fond memories.

Hands down, The best online shooter is CSGO.. It has everything.

1.It's Competitive..
2.It's Fun.
3.Huge Community.
4.It's Optimized and runs on most PC's.
5.It's cheap and affordable.

PS. Valve has sold over 25 million copies of CSGO..

Now that I look back I notice that I haven't played that many online shooters. CS:GO and BF4 mostly. The most favourite one would probably be CS:GO as you can easily jump in with your friends and enjoy the game for a while.

I played a ton of Battlefield 2 back in the day, and have been dying to find another FPS that fills that void, but doesn't push my mediocre machine to its limits. Side note, I'm quite impressed that an "early access" game took off this much, usually the stigma alone brings a game down quite a bit.

Normally I would never put up an Early Access game for these giveaways, however, the reviews have been really good. Personally, I've played it plenty and have had an almost entirely bug free experience, with no game ending bugs to speak of.

I haven't played much online shooters lately, but back in the day I really liked Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I had lots of laughs playing it with my friend. Also Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon (the first one) was great because it felt so realistic compared to other shooters at the time.

my favourite online shooter is CS:GO. It is good to have both co-op and versus. the older CS games are part of my childhood which got me hooked onto gaming.

The Counterstrike series has to be my favorite shooter. I've been playing CS Source for close to 15 years, and I got seriously into the competitive CSGO scene several years ago. It's competitive, well balanced, fun to play, addictive, and it involves a lot of teamwork and coordination. I even played on a sponsored CSGO team for awhile, and the competitive scene for CS is incredible.

My favorite story might be a 3k I had on A site on the map Mirage. I was playing in a tourney for my team, and we were on our first map. It was a 1v3, I was the last team member for CT side. The bomb was planted A, and I was rotating from B. I came out onto the bombsite, and immediately awped (sniped) two of the guys on the bomb site. I didn't see the final guy, but I had a hunch he was in a crevice between a set of stairs, and a pallet of cinder blocks (sandwich, for you CS folks). I charged up the stairs, leaped off the top of the stairs with my pistol out, firing wildly at the crevice. I ended up headshotting him right before landing on top of him. Then I defused the bomb and won the round.

I was on Teamspeak with the rest of my team, listening to them all freak out as this round unfolded, and they all completely lost it when I pulled this little maneuver. One of my teammates yelled out that I went "full batman on that guy's a**", and from that moment on, I was commonly referred to by the team as the batman. 😀

Alright! Where Should I start. Hmm...Ok. If I was wondering one day, and somebody came up to me in random to ask me which type of online shooter do I like (Which is like, very unlikely), I wouldn't hesitate and straight out say I LOVE RAINBOW SIX SIEGE! Why? Well, here are some of my reasons. Rainbow Six Siege is a satisfying game. It's not just some fast paced shooter, but what makes it great is it's tactical ways. That's right! If you think that tactical method is slow, then YOUR WRONG my friend. You see, R6's tactical method could be both fast and slow. It's really up to the players! Another great thing is the operators. The operators that the players could choose from are all with their own different characteristics and weapons. Now, here is the thing, this game is very based on teamwork, without it you will pretty much lose. But here is another thing! The community itself is great and are willing to play with each other as a team to win the game. There was a time where my team was completely full of random people and we didn't know each other. But we chat together and formed plans to win the game. It was difficult, but we ended up successfully wining all 3 rounds on casual! So if you don't have any friends to play R6 with, well you can still play with some random folks. Lastly, this game is of course not perfect. From my own experiences, I had servers going slow and sometimes hackers, But I never lose hope. Why? Because the developers from Ubisoft are always trying new ways to improve our game plays! These are reasons why I love Rainbow Six Siege.

PS. I've been on this game since Alpha Testings~

CS:GO is my current favorite online shooter game. It's a 5-on-5 competitive FPS. It takes a lot of teamwork and individual precision to win games. I think I've always been attracted to this game since the first version of it was released as part of Half-Life. It was what caused my love for computer gaming.

My favorite shooter will still always be Halo 3. I have had so many memories of going over to my friend's houses as we drag our Xbox around to play Halo 3 all the time. Hands down best game in my life as I have memories that I won't ever forget.

My favorite shooter so far has been Call of Duty 2. Thousands of hours in this game I have made a lot of good friends from servers across the US.

I honestly don;t play Online Shooters much. I tend to stick to RPG's and a lot of them are late 90's/early 2000's titles like Neverwinter Nights 1 and diablo 2: LOD as well i have thousands of hours lost to the Dark Souls Series.

If I had to pick the one i enjoyed the most so far in terms of shooter on PC I'd say the Killing Foor games. Have a pretty good group of friends who play it also so it's always a fun experience and I'm a zombie nut so if you're killin zombies I'm in!

Also really like what they did with the Zombie Amy Trilogy and we play it quite a bit too as well as the left 4 dead games.

you're all doing it wrong...

Unreal Tournament 2000 - still a far more enjoyable game with more game modes than most modern day shooters!
