I have installed a new Athlon XP 3000 on a Asus A7N8X deluxe mobo. When i first booted the PC up the system detected it at 1.3Ghz (the 3000's speed is set at about 2.16Ghz) So i went i BIOS and cranked it up to about 2.25Ghz, but the temp is about 50 C. Wot is the usual Ghz of a 3000, and is this temp too hot at this speed?

50c when...under load? sitting in the bios at idle?

50c under full load is not bad on stock cooling...especially considering asus boards have very inacurate temp. readings...

Google a program called motherboard monitor...see what that shows up...

How many bits are in a nibble?

If you answer this question...you must put it in terms of Pi...If not you do not win the rage pro for answering...

Stock, the bus speed should be 166MHz (aka 333 bus). That would be 13x166.6...MHz, which equals 2166MHz as you said. 50C is an OK temp, just a little high for idle.

When you booted, the board reverted to 100MHz bus, 100x13=1300. So unless you were planning on overclocking, you should have left it at 13x and raised the bus speed to 166.
