Took part in a mission but got no credits for it

Hi

Today I finally found some guys who wanted to kill Frostfire and I was
so happy about it because this mission was given to me like a week ago
and I never found somebody to do it with.

At the end it turns out that I got no credit for doing the mission.
That means, only the team leader got a new contact. I still have to do
this friggin' mission. I suppose I need to be the team leader to get
credits for a mission, is that right?

Yet another reason why I WANT TO BE ABLE TO DROP A MISSION. Are the
devs aware that some players want this? As a Euro player I
unfortunately can't ask them directly via the US forum. :(

Oh they've been screamed at since release over this.
They finally seem to have gotten the hint, but it's not due till issue4
at the earliest.

Frostfire isn't that bad, since the hollows tends to have a lot of
people and it's usually not too hard to get a team to do it.

Try having AVs that are impossible (by design) to solo, taking up all 3
mission slots, no way to drop them and be greeted with apathy when you
try to get help.

The Devs have some magical vision where everyone belongs to a fantastic,
active supergroup and has multiple friends online every time they are,
only that's not the reality for a lot of people.
Forced grouping in a game where you can't count on getting a group for
the task is completely and utterly retarded.

The Devs do listen to the playerbase, but sometimes they act a lot like
a senile and deaf grandparent, you have to yell and repeat yourself a
lot before they finally understand.

Are Euro accounts banned from the US forums or something?

It doesn't matter who the team leader was. The problem was that the team
leader selected the wrong mission, he picked his frostfire mission instead
of yours. If he had picked your frostfire mission you would have gotten the
credit. The credit for mission complete does not necessarily goto the team
leader, it goes to the person whose mission it was.

I had an interesting experience with this one, though. Don't recall it
from my main alt, and may not have had it since the Hollows didn't appear
until I was at least 15-16. Got it this round with Glory, and...

Took a hell of a run at it when Frostfire conned yellow (I guess I was 16
or 17), and failed to kill him in three passes. He'd get low and then out
would come the fire imps and jack frost, and it was collect another gum
wrapper.

Then I leveled - once, I'm pretty sure, although it might have been twice
- and went back in.

Minions were gray/green, Bedrock or whatever the gatekeeper's name is was
blue, and Frosty boy was green. Weird.

Shen is stuck with two of those. I may never make 39 on that char.

I'm glad to hear this. I hope they increase the amount of parallel
missions you can have, too.

Over here it is. Most people seem to have defeated Frostfire more than
once even before it was their mission and so are like "no, thank you,
not again".

I wouldn't call it "banned". But you can only access the US forums if
you own a copy of the US version of CoH. It's the same the other way
around in that you need a copy of the Euro version to access the Euro
forums. (But who'd want this when they can access the US forums?)

So as a Euro player you can only hope that the "community managers"
pick up suggestions in the forums and forward them to whoever's
responsible. As a vocal US player 'though you can make sure yourself
that the devs get the message.

I'd love to be able to post on the EU boards as a US player because I do
browse across them (I was on the EU beta, so I got used to reading them
then) and I wish sometimes I could answer/correct some of the silly
things I see getting posted on there...

One I recall was someone saying that Red enhancements still have a
benefit and absolutely no one replying to say that was complete nonsense.
I'd love to be able to make sure people get the correct info.

How's playing on the US servers from Europe ping-wise? And is it easy
to find teams? I'm wondering if the different time zones don't make
this difficult.

Maybe the topic disappeared too fast from page 1? ;-) For that alone I
hate web forums...

I've never had any ping problems going to the US servers. That was one
reason I wanted to get on the EU beta, to see if there were any
performance changes and there wasn't a single one. The only time I've had
issues were because I was also running a bittorrent I really wanted to
download and that gave me a slight bit of lag because it was maxing my
connection. But I hardly ever even get mapserver disconnects - often US
players seem to complain about connections when everything is fine for
me!

I've always been able to find a team when I wanted one, and that includes
putting together 6-man task forces. Really, there are people on at all
times - sure there are more on from, say, 9pm to 6am UK time but there's
always plenty of people on.

Alas, it was on page 1 and there were a half-dozen replies already when I
saw it. Ho hum.

I'd hope so too, but i've heard nothing about that.
Why they limited it to 3 i'll never know - unless it's some artificial
limit to simulate the urgency with which you're supposed to be dealing
with missions.

Eventually you should be able to find help, or failing that just level
up enough to be able to solo him - inspirations can be a major assist
here.

I wasn't even aware there were separate Euro forums.
I guess it makes a sort of sense for the server groups, but the rest
seem a little odd.
Well barring the incidence of non-english posts I guess which would just
be flame-bait for the uneducated teenage americans on the NA forums.

Sometimes it seems you need to hit the Devs over the head with a hammer
to make them take notice of anything.
Just look at the "martial arts is just fine" attitude that lasted for
months until one of them (Statesman) actually tried playing it and found
out how horribly broken it was.

That's my main beef with the Devs, they have some magical idea of how
everything should be, but they're so disconnected from the game they
don't seem to understand just how far from reality their idea is.
What really gets me is that several of them claim to play a lot and
they're STILL oblivious to problems.
