Question Toothpaste for cooling

Tried toothpaste because thermal past was dry and got 4 days before my new paste gets here and I was surprised ran a stress test for 25 mins and the temps didnt go higher then 65c was surprised.There is a pic of the temps

Yeah I saw a post about it and thought I'd give it ago and it surprisingly worked but the downside is you need to change it every couple days

Yeah it might work iv never tryed it other then this toothpaste trick iv only ever tryed something silly once and I put beer in my custom loop didn't end well

and bonus is when CPU gets warm PC has a nice fresh minty smell .. lol Ive seen video on youtube (jays two cents) and they use several things such as the filling from a Oreo cookie, peanut butter, toothpaste etc.. most surprisingly worked well, reall question id imagine is for how long .. but for a small amount of time I'm sure all kinds of stuff would work

Yeah it's been OK for me had it like it for 2 days temps sit at about 35c unless it's under a stress test wouldn't want to run the pc like this for long tho as toothpaste is corrosive

ya for sure not a long term solution, but in a pinch it works.. ive done it myself when I had to have the system working , but at same time never pushed it either and used very limitedly

Use gel like toothpaste plus 25% Vaseline it can last up to 6 months as makeshift thermal paste for a mid-low CPU. I tried that on a Athlon X4 750K PC and it lasted for almost a year.

ive always been told the normal white toothpoaste was best as its thicker than Gel, Id be worried Gel + Vaseline would liquify under heat and what a mess that could be

Actually, thinner is better.
The purpose of paste is to fill in microscopic air pits in the mating surfaces.
For a few days, you are ok.
Another alternative might have been cooking oil which is heat tolerant.

Pulling this straight out of my nether regions, but instead of toothpaste if you put a flat bottom glass of water on top of the CPU, you get a water cool system! Dont take word for it though lol.

I was really sceptical about doing it but surprisingly it worked might have to mess around and try other things at some point it's not my main pc so I'm not to worried about it

Except that glass is an insulator and would be extremely prohibitive in transferring thermal energy very well.

Even if it were a metal tumbler, once the water began to absorb thermal loads, evaporation and natural convection take place far too slowly for this to be very effective for very long.

Hate to see what happens after that tumble starts to form condensation, as that liquid filling will evaporate for a short time after the fans stop.
