Simple greed. I can't wait for next year since the sellouts are going to wish they hadn't alienated so many people. What will they do when all mighty dollar and euro burn like tissue paper in a mixed oxygen & hydrogen environment or get busted like climategate.

[citation][nom]The_Blood_Raven[/nom]You don't get it, 150 years ago it was illegal for most african americans to own land in the U.S., while 100 years ago it was legal for a factory owner to order the massacre of it's workers because they refused to work in inhumane conditions, 50 years ago it was illegal for a black man to piss in the same toilet as a white man, but 8 years ago, and still today, it is legal for the U.S. government to spy on it's citizens, arrest them on a hunch, and deny them a trial by peers regardless of what the constitution says on said hunch. And that is only in the U.S.Please, please, please, please tell me that all of that is justified because some bureaucratic hypocritical politicians said that it was illegal or legal to do so. I fucking dare you.Don't compare "pirating" to any form of illegal activity, especially anything on the level of terrorists in Pakistan, because it is only wrong because some fools being paid by RIAA and MIAA lobbyists say so. It has been proven time and time again that "pirating" has had either a negligible or even a positive impact on the music, movie, and video game industries.Would you kindly get your head out of your ass, or better yet just go away. Actually I apologize for singling you out, this also applies to anyone with similar beliefs as yours.[/citation]

Beautiful. And that is check mate. The ONLY reason anyone speaks up in defense of copyright laws talks about this is either they are on the take and getting money handed out to them or are to fucking dumb to question authority when you smell that faint odor of BULLSHIT! I and many others have so called pirated movies and other things and often times we buy them because we like them, and sometimes we buy a few copies of things afterwords because we want to give them out as gifts or to play online with friends. Also speaking the word if something is good or not helps sales. It's not piracy that hurts games and movie sales its shitty games and movies that hurt their sales. So if you make movies or games for a living and wonder why no one buys them... don't go the old religious route of blaming everything on the "devil" try looking at yourself for a change or your work and see if its up to par and worth that bullshit price tag of $59.99

I felt bad when I realised that Mininova was taken down. I actually, after so long, tried to get something off of there that I know I wouldnt find anywhere else ( and thats if there were any seeders left since its VERY old whatever i was looking for ) and then seeing nothing and no results , then following the link as in what and why was done.. I felt simply bad since i found it way better and more convinient and useffriendly than piratebay. Im not afraid nor ashamed to admit i use torrents. Now private tracker cause P2P should also be fair, but also cause im a buyer. I buy too much shit to risk paying 100s monthly on software that I dont know how it will turn out.

P.S. Why do you keep saying that the piratebay is taken down? Its not down and its been working up untill right now that i rechecked...

[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]Please, fill me in on how it is ok that any torrent tracker is allowed to "ALLOW" users to upload copyrighted material? Please, give me your wisdom. On top of looking like a complete dipshit, you resorted to name calling to prove a point? Go download a piece of pirated software and eat the dinner your mom made.[/citation]

Go wave your American flag that's made in China and stick your head in the sand as you've been doing for the better part of your life.

[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]That is PRECISELY MY POINT. How hard is it to get across that IT IS ILLEGALLLLLLLLLL. Jesus H Christ![/citation]

And it's a illegal because billion/millionaires said so... not because its right, but because they have money. Jesus H. Christ do you get that?!

if you want to try out music/movies there is youtube and so forth. if you want to try out a game or software they usually have trials. torrents are illegal and they do hurt the industry. these people may not need anymore money but in essence it is stealing.

saw that 3 days ago!
They basically are becoming extinct, with only intro's theatric trailers and some home made crap...

Ow,and the pirate bay is still up and running!
I don't know what you guys are talking about that site, but it seems to work just fine!

[citation][nom]GetItDone[/nom]I never understood the point of piracy. Why risk viruses in your download, low bitrate audio in music, cruddy movie rips, lack of online play in games and lack of updates in software? Does anyone care to think that if everyone pirates this stuff that there would be no incentive to create the material in the first place? If you don't want to buy a cd- listen to the radio, if you don't want to buy the dvd- rent it, if you don't want to buy the game- play it at a friends house and if you don't want to pay for the software then download the demo. You don't pay- then you do not deserve to play. plain and simple. I'm not calling you a thief, I'm just calling you undeserving. Besides- it's so much nicer to know that you helped support the company that so graciously creates your precious media and yet you continue to "f**k" the RIAA and MPAA....seriously- think about it, the MPAA & RIAA is made up of the companies that bring you your media. Biting the hand that feeds you I guess. Another thing, DRM- invented because of pirates. Pirates are the cause of their own hatred towards the MPAA & RIAA...self fulfilling prophets much?[/citation]

I don't even know where to start with you. First and foremost no one has any money for the most part (unemployment is at an all time high...) to buy every game out there to "try" them out, and a second not all games are worth one one hundredth of the price tag that's on them.

Undeserving? Like its a privilege to toss sixty dollars for a duel layer dvd and a craptasic box with a shitty u-card and some ten cent booklet for often a piece of shit in the first place? Seriously? When did the rich get so big headed to say such things. You know artists and I mean real ones are happy enough knowing someone gives a flying fuck about what they made nonetheless make a dollar off of it. It's their privilege that we tell them "good job" or "great song", not "hey you poor fucks pay top dollar for this shit to even get a taste." I am sorry, but fuck you buddy. It's a privilege these game makers and song writers have anything, but to demand things of the such is insane and arrogant beyond belief. I'll be glad to support people that are truly worth the time and effort, but to demand payment for something that you deem valuable just because you say so is bullshit. And I don't know when games and thing became a "lease" and not something you owned. When someone sells you their work of art or their art whatever they are selling it transfers to you once you paid whatever they wanted and both parties got what they wanted, but some how in this day and age (okay its been like this throughout history) where greedy bastards try to rule everything and tell you what is right and what is law based on how much bank they pull down is bullshit. If you want to sell games then do so, but know when you sell something it is no longer yours and if you can't except the fact that some might take your work of art and toss it in the trash or others might very well try and duplicate it then you're in the wrong business.

They try and take things off of youtube and do often because they want: money, money, money, money and that's all. And no they don't hurt anything and if it were truly the case... these companies would have folded long ago, but guess what? File sharing via bit torrent and other mediums has been going on in waves of millions for this whole decade and guess what? Sony is still around, Microsoft is still around, and the rest of the rich asshats are still around, so tell me how could this be true that its hurting the industry? As far as I know when something bleeds for ten plus years it usually dies, and they look just fine.

Mininova was sooo awesome. I loved it. I have shed tears now that it is basically useless. There used to be 1000's upon 1000's of movies and albums on there. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do now. People who don't understand pirating don't understand that it doesn't take away from sales. I would have never bought anything I downloaded. My life would not have suffered without the movies or music or games or OS's or software that I would have missed out on. It's just easy. So I understand the fight to end it. If it wasn't available, I wouldn't have any of it, but I wouldn't have bought it either.

See now that's how you quote the right person. But I hate COD, and I wouldn't even pirate that shit. And who said anything about being a dude? Not that it matters, but if you knew how to read and write you could stop making so many mistakes. The fact is once you sell something its gone unless you want to buy it back, and being arrogant and demanding that people pay you whatever you wish is insane. I wouldn't touch that pile of crap from Infinity Ward/Activision/Blizzard/Vivendi for a million dollars now the less look up a working torrent for it. Off topic, but since COD was brought up do you know this million selling game is made and sold by the French? Look down the list there and you'll see Vivendi as the parent company. Yes, a war game made and owned by the French... how good can it be? No, that was a joke, but seriously I don't care for it because of what they've done to the pc port of the game and the price jacking they did with the pc port as well. It's the only game that isn't a collectors edition that sells for $59.99 is why I don't like it... (and I really have no interest in COD anyway).

[citation][nom]sylvia648[/nom]$59.99 is why I don't like it... (and I really have no interest in COD anyway).[/citation]
ATM the AUD and USD are approx. parity (like 0.93:1)
But for us 59.99 for a standard new release game is very cheap, most new release (standard) hover at the $90-110 mark (with some going into the $120-140, like Cod and GTA IV) with the collectors about a $20 surcharge on top the standard. This is true for PC, PS3 and 360... DS games sell for $60 even

Win of the day!

Screw Mininova anyways. Isohunt and PirateBay are my favorites, and I have no care for a private tracker.

I wish people would stop saying TPB is down when you can just type it into your browsers address field and see that it ... Well ... Not down. And the fact that mininova made the news for any reason should absolutely thrill them but don't know anyone who uses them. For anything.

[citation][nom]sylvia648[/nom]And it's a illegal because billion/millionaires said so... not because its right, but because they have money. Jesus H. Christ do you get that?![/citation]

It is illegal because LAW says so. Is it right for me to steal your property just because you have more money or power?

Listen, there is not one dispute on here that can waiver my standing on piracy. If you pirate software... your guilty. What you don't know is I used to do it. What you also don't know is I STOPPED doing it. Why? Because I respect developers. I respect COMPANIES that have MADE themselves and earned tens of millions of dollars by doing things the RIGHT way. What have YOU done? Does anyone have a company here that makes tens of millions of dollars? Does anyone have a team of software developers? DO YOU DEVELOP SOFTWARE OR WRITE CODE? Have you ever written an application? Do you write applications? I didn't think so. If you did, you would understand. Of courrrrse I have read about the numerous reports pirating has aided the transfer of music and such. OF COURSE IT HAS! Even if it has HELPED that does not make it right! Sorry for any of my previous FLAMER remarks. The last thing I want to do is stoop to any level that makes me look ridiculous. I am prone to error, as you all are. There is nothing that can make me say, "Wow, I guess you guy's are right! I'm pissed these software companies are making money! Let's pirate their software cause I cant afford it!" NOT!!!!!! Oh yea...

And yet they backed down, look at what TPB did, they're still up, but they took it like real men and took the hefty fine and jail time.

And now we'll see the rush towards private trackers, better quality anyway :)

Depending on if I were a evil corporation and made the money off the backs of people to use and abuse them and then toss them away like most American companies than yes, I'd say give them the ass kicking of a life time.

I think your someone that would benefit from losing everything and then you might understand that no one gives a flying fuck for millionaires and their problems, because they have none. Your in the wrong place if your against P2P file sharing and pro asshat businesses. You might want to try arguing on a Fox News Forum or something that way you'll find like minded people.

Yea this is about a week old. Went to the site last week to download the Naruto ep and the site was completely void of all torrents.

What I dont get is that stations air tv shows for free and are now beginning to put them online. So why do they care if I watch it a week later online with some subtitles?

Torrentz.com

Those retards at the MPAA and RIAA are pushing piracy to new heights every time they intervene. They involuntarily helped the creation of P2P networks, and later, the torrents. Every time they kill a distribution method a newer and better model with come.
