Darn I misread that and read it as "KiaSu"

When I see the name Toshiba, I think Japan (and therefore quality). Even though I don't think of the brand as being high end, I think they at least definitely exceed the minimum standard for being a real company with a legal product.

When I (try to) read Kioxia I think that name was spat out by whatever random brand-name generator that Chinese counterfeiters use on kn ock-off clothes and fake micro-SD cards on Wish and Aliexpress.

I think this name change is a really bad idea.

Yep, first thing that came to mind is some sketchy off-brand of SD-cards/SSDs.
