Question Toshiba satellite Pro C50-A-1KJ intel graphics not working

Hi,
I have a Toshiba satellite Pro C50-A-1KJ and whenever the intel HD graphics driver is installed for the proper screen resolution and brightness control etc my screen goes all weird. This is because my graphics chips is broken and I want to replace it with one from an old motherboard non working but I just want to clarify its the chip soldered to the motherboard labelled sr17e?

Thats platform controller hub (PCH), intel hd graphics is integrated inside your CPU not the PCH. Its more rare that intel hd fails, meaning you have to replace CPU instead of PCH, still i think that might be other issue.

Test any other possibility first and if all fails replace i5-4200M.

I've tried new LCD, CMOS battery, motherboard. So I'll try the CPU I may have a spare one around
