Review TP-Link Archer GE800 Wi-Fi 7 router review: Gaming-focused with attractive pricing

I LOVE those latency levels how are they managing this I wonder and for less than Asus just might be time to dump my ASUS Wi-Fi mesh network.

I used to love Asus until I started to get in to their firmware update nightmare.. Similar to their motherboard bioses.. many things stop working on the next update and things are removed or added. So you never get the a fully stable firmware/bios.

Unlike TPlink's. I haven't had any issue with their software.
Hell, I had to reboot all my asus routers (most of them gaming branded) every week.
Not so much for tplink.

High performance doesn’t have to come with a high price tag.

Its cost ranges from $470 to $600 from a simple search, so there not being a high price tag is a lie.
I wonder if the price drop below MSRP on Amazon is because the router gets hot under load and makes a decent amount of fan noise judging by video reviews (noted as "noticeable" in this review, more like noticeable from another room lmao)

Did you ever try merlin firmware on your asus router.

i've been using them with that firmware for about 5 years now no reboot issues at all. Only time I reboot is when doing a firmware update.

Needs a plasma ball suspended in the middle, for... reasons

Good looking? Who want to have Darth Vaders flying machine in his / her house if you are not a big Star Wars fan?

Was an Asus buyer but they have gone downhill on most of their products, as for the routers, would only buy one if it was supported by Asuswrt-Merlin projects, as in RMerlins custom firmware.

Here's hoping they've updated they're parental controls - or at least the ability to filter on MAC id's by time and allow blocking of devices on rules because in the past, I've returned TP-link routers as that "feature" was only available in the subscription which over 2 years was more than the cost of the router!

It came free with various Asus models i own use now.

That was a big NOPE for parents wanting to kill the internet at 10PM weekdays for the kids devices or have better control.

As for the Asus software, as soon as something else became available, i switched to DD-WRT or the like - but they do frig around with those updates - so they're NOT perfect either.

Eye of Sauron FTW!

I did, but not even Merlin could save the issues of the router. Merlin have to work on ASUS's framework thou ( I had the N66U, then moved to another gaming one before I just moved to Archer series of TP link lol )

Man, I miss when Merlin had to fight to have dual WAN support and then it disappeared and came back, etc..
