Im wanting to transfer windows 10 from my old pc to my new pc to save money, however im not sure what the easiest method is.

Solution
Setup a Microsoft Account and link your current PC to it , then backup whatever you want to save and perform a clean install on your new setup and activate it with your Microsoft account from within windows. Skip the key entry during setup and activate it from within windows with the registered Microsoft Account.

Create a USB installer here ^

what version of win 10 is on the old PC?
right click start
choose run..
type winver and press enter
is version number 1607?
if it isn't, you need to be on this version to swap so go to Here and press upgrade now, this will download the upgrade assistant. Run it and it will install latest version of win 10

that should add the button you missing

If you already on 1607, that is a little odd as I can see it on my PC (I haven't linked this to an account yet)

I had it off while I was trying to activate windows on the new pc. I dont know if i should uninstall it completely because that would mean its gone for good if i messed something up right?

I see my name, my comcast email
"manage my Microsoft account

Sign in with a local account

Your picture" etc

All I see on activation is
"Windows
Edition: Windows 10 pro
Activation: Windows is activated
Product key: Windows 10 on this device is activated with a digital entitlement
Get more info
change product key"

That is all I see

Oh I thought you were asking for the old pc activation screen.

The NEW pc activation screen says:
" Windows
Edition: Windows 10 pro
Activation: Windows is not activated
We cant activate windows on this device because you dont have a valid digital license or product key. Goto store to buy genuine windows. Error code: 0x803F7001
Learn more
Activate windows now
Running a non genuine cop of Windows can put you at greater risk for viruses and other security threats
Go to store to buy Genuine windows or enter a product key
Store Change product key
If you are having problems with activation select troubleshoot to try and fix the problem.
Troubleshoot"

Its just bold text, not a clickable link. Only things clickable are Go to store, Change product key and Troubleshoot

Are you connected to the internet?

And by the way, on the sign-in options screen, you said you used a Comcast email. Thats no good. Try selecting Manage My Microsoft Account. Windows needs to know your Microsoft/Hotmail account or it isnt going to work.

I am on the internet. And can I dont know if i can change account emails. I dont even think i can change accounts now that both pcs are on the comcast account

You mean how was it downloaded? I believe CD but I dont have the packaging for it or anything, it was done by a repair person

I signed into my microsoft account on the non activated windows. The old pc just doesn't show up when i go to "I did a hardware upgrade".

im signed in on both pcs i mean

Wait, would the issue be the old PCs windows not being updated? Because I think its really old

No. Nothing to do with it. You have to sign in with your microsoft account (not Comcast) on both the old and new systems. Until you do that you will have to activate device via web browser in your Microsoft account,.

Try to understand your PC is linked to Microsoft account. In settings, you have to select manage my Microsoft account and enter login details on both PC's for Microsoft to know who you are. Forget Comcast lol. You need one that ends @outlook.com

Yes but you have to link Windows to the account. Windows cant see the web browser. It may have worked now as it has fairly good artificial intelligence.... Go to Windows settings/sign-in and manage my windows account, then make sure your outlook account is entered.

You need to be logged in with an Admin account to see that link.
