We recently moved, so for some weeks before moving and a couple weeks after moving I didn't have a chance to do much stressful with my computer. I just got NWN2 and have been playing that with graphics cranked pretty high (it still looks lousy, btw) and no problems. The day before yesterday I popped in Oblivion and found on several instances in a brief time of playing that I would see strange blue flecks briefly appearing in textures, usually on rapidly turning. The second time it happened I freaked out and quit immediately to check the temps.

I have a His HD 4850 IceQ4, and CCC said that it was running about 60 C with the fan at about 44%. It idles at about 40-45 C, and goes up to maybe 65 C under load. This isn't near the danger zone according to CCC. So I figured maybe I knocked something loose while moving and turned it off. Yesterday I opened the case and checked to make sure it was seated right and plugged in properly, and that appears to be fine. I played Oblivion again with no problems, but when I exited to Windows and shut it down I briefly saw an about 1 inch square section in the top left of the screen that went all plaid textured.

Is my video card about to explode? Should I check again to make sure it's seated right? Am I stressing out needlessly?

its hard to overclock a video card and not get artifacts. from my expirience, it tends to be a gpu ram issue not really a core clock issue. turn the ram speed down a tad and you will notice less artifacts.
