According to thott you have to get the Gordok Shackle key off of Guard
Moldar, which I beleive you are not supposed to kill for a successful trib
run. Is there another way to get it? I have not tried this but can a rogue
pickpocket him to obtain it?
Any feedback would be apprecaited.

It is a random (rare) drop from all of the ogres in DM north - kill
away on the unnamed and one will drop eventually.

Guard Mol'dar has the Gordok Inner Door Key which can be pickpocketed
from him (or you can kill him for it).

the shackle key always dropped for me from any mob while doin the
tribute run... and it ALWAYS drop from the first named guard. so u have
2 possibilities:
1st: zone in, kill named one, zone out, reset instance zone in and do
the tribute run (the key dont disappear cause ur still in "Dire Maul"
while zoning out). U must reset instance cause the less named ones u
kill, the more loot u get on tribute run.
2nd: fight all ur way to king (without killing any named) and hope for
a random drop of this key. (as i said, it ever drops for me... ones it
drops 4 times in a run, i think this was a bug?!?)

The Shackle Key doesn't disappear. You're thinking of the Gordok Courtyard
Key, which *does* vanish if you zone out.

My understanding is that you don't get more loot in the instance it simply
means the blue item you get from killing the named is one less blue item in
the tribute chest. So why have 3 boss fights when you only need have one to
get the *same* amount of loot.

No, you do get different loot from the tribute chest. For example you
can only get Rod of the Ogre Magi from the tribute chest.

Of course, if you leave the bosses alive you can also go back after
you have become king and get buffs and other goodies from them.

AND you can use videre elixir to die within the instance afterwards, let
you ressurect in which case you are no longer king and the mobs are
attackable again. I've never did it but it makes me wonder if you can kill
the named ones afterwards for additional loot. Anyone want to try it?

Last night we tried something similar - we got the tribute and then got the
buffs then zoned out, which lost the king buff. Then killed the named. Nothing
dropped.

Or you can leave the instance, in which case the buff goes away too.

The instance was not designed to support that however, because when
the buff goes away all ogres become red, non-aggro, and non-attackable
(except for any respawns that happen after you lose the buff - they
are normal, that is red, aggro, and attackable).

I was referring specifically to the number of blue items within the instance
as opposed to the item type.

yup.

Done that and it gets very confusing, all are flagged as aggressive and you
have to try and remember which ones are killed respawns and will attack and
which ones you didn't kill.

Aw too bad, they actually thought about it :)

It seems they ruled this trick out in advance. Well would have been fun but
probably also an exploit.
