[SOLVED] Trouble getting GPU to work on an old motherboard

Okay so, I have a bit of an odd situation here and I'm looking for some help. I am trying to get a 4GB ASUS Mining RX 470 (never used for mining) to work on an ECS H55H-M V1.1 motherboard for... scientific reasons. The system has a Cooler Master PSU (RS-500-PCAR-A3). When I try to turn it on with the GPU installed the system refuses to boot, fans turn on, GPU fans do not, no bios, no display, no anything, the monitor doesn't even power on.

The GPU works perfectly when installed on my main system, so I was wondering... Is this GPU not compatible with the motherboard? Or is there anything I could look into

Some things to consider:
*I don't have an 80 plus PSU with a proper 8 pin connector on hand so I tried just using the +12V 6 pin connector and bridging the other 2 pins. GPU's white led turns on

*The system was previously running with a GeForce GTX 460, which it still works with

Modern graphics cards require a UEFI motherboard bios.
I suspect yours is the old legacy type.
Does your bios look very plain and monochrome?
If so, it is likely legacy.

Some graphics cards released within the transition period could run on either, possibly it might have a switch.

And... If a psu does not nave the needed graphics connectors, it will not have sufficient power to run the graphics card properly, and might be even dangerous to try.

I concur, it seems to be an issue related to the, "adaption," made with the cable to power the card, or at least that would be my best guess.
I don't really wanna buy a new PSU for this since I don't plan on using the system like this for long.

Please educate me if I'm being ignorant about this but, would a proper 2 molex to 8 pin (or 6 pin to 8 pin) adaptor work? Again, I'm kinda new at PC building so please excuse my ignorance but the GTX 460 has a higher TDP than the RX 470 (160W 2x 6-pin vs 120W 1x 8-pin), shouldn't it be fine then?

NOTE:
The GTX 460 was running using the PSU's 6-pin connector + a 2x molex to 6-pin adaptor

This card should work on legacy mode, according to what I've read online

Using these adapters can cause issues with power for the card. Removing adapters from the mix would be my advice as a troubleshooting step. This would most likely require you to get a new PSU or at least borrow a known good one.

Hey, forgot about this and just wanted to give a quick update. The problem was the display adapter I was trying to use was defective, I just got a new one and the GPU works fine on the system now
