Greetings,

I am building a custom set up and I can't reach the BIOS. I am getting a 5d AMI error code, which is reserved for future AMI error listings. After looking through the forums, I found a thread about reinstalling the CPU, RAM and then resetting the CMOS for 5d codes. This has not fixed the issue.

Any suggestions? Did I possibly get a DOA CPU or RAM?

Thanks!

MB: A88X Pro
CPU: X4 860K 3.7 GHz (heat sink is an Artic Freeze that is compatible with FM2+ CPUs)
RAM: Team Elite 16 GB 1600 DDR3
GPU: 270x Toxic 2 GB
Harddrive: 240 GB Kingston SSD

Any details on how you got it to work? I've tried everything in this thread. Still no Post

CPU: 860K
MOBO: A88X-PRO
Memory: Ripjaw z F3-2400C10D-8GZH ( 2 x 4gb )
P/S: Evga 600B
GPU: HIS ICE Q 7870

My problem was I stupidly didn't realize that these mobos required a CPU with an APU. I figured because the board had onboard video connections, then it actually had onboard video. This is incorrect. You have to either get an AMD processor with an APU, or one without and have a dedicated video card.

I installed a CPU with APU, and it booted right up!

What's the board's BIOS version?

It is, 0703. Although I've upgraded to 1701. I went to the ASUS CPU support site, downloaded the latest bios version, extracted the cap file to be on the root of the drive( drive is fat32 ), renamed it A88XPRO, and it still didn't work. I tried 5 different times with 2 different drives. I turned on my power supply so that just the board was getting power and held down the bios flash back button for 3 seconds, let it do it's thing and still nothing.

I've also reset the cmos by taking out the battery ( while there was no power to the board ), waited 15 minutes, reinstalled, no dice. I've done the cmos reset in between my other tests

Yes I did, I'm going to try flashing it again though. I currently have a 66 error again. It goes from 98 to D7 then to 66.

I have my keyboard and mouse plugged in, both usb. Though they show no power going to them. All my connections are totally snug and fit.

Ok sorry for the late reply. With just the cpu and cpu cooler on. I receive the 3F error. Which is not listed in my manual unfortunately. 1 stick of Ram in any slot it is 66.

With just 1 memory installed, gpu installed i am getting a 94 error. "PCI BUS enumeration"

I should mention that i have an dvi to hdmi adapter that goes from my pc to the t.v. I dont have a DVI cable any more.

Ok, I tried it with a monitor. It still uses the setup : Monitor DVI output -- dvi to hdmi adapter -- hdmi cord -- to HDMI in Video card. Still 94 error.

I think i might have fried my video card. I did a super moronic thing and set my video card on my pc chassis while booting up the pc. The card was receiving no power. But as soon as I hit the power button I blew a fuse in my house.

I went to a friends house with my pc and tried my card in his rig. No video. no power to keyboard or mouse .

Then tried his card in my rig and still got that 66 error. but at least the keyboard and mouse lit up. I also tried using his 1600mhz mushkin ram in 1 slot, all slots one at a time to see if it was a memory issue. But still got the 66 error.

I also reset the cmos in between all steps.

It also worries me that not either of the sets of ram I tried are supported on ASUS compatibility chart for my motherboard.

I've also just tried a known working power supply, same 94 issue.

Graphics Card was bought used on Ebay :/, it worked great for awhile. Does it sound like my GPU might be fried?

My motherboard I just bought a week ago, so I will RMA that to ASUS.

Phew, ok so It booted. Just not with my 7870. I found an old gt 220 and it booted into that. So power supply, motherboard, cpu, and RAM are OK! Just weird that it didn't boot up my friends video card. hmmm. So

I guess that means im in the market for a new video card!
