Greetings,

I am building a custom set up and I can't reach the BIOS. I am getting a 5d AMI error code, which is reserved for future AMI error listings. After looking through the forums, I found a thread about reinstalling the CPU, RAM and then resetting the CMOS for 5d codes. This has not fixed the issue.

Any suggestions? Did I possibly get a DOA CPU or RAM?

Thanks!

MB: A88X Pro
CPU: X4 860K 3.7 GHz (heat sink is an Artic Freeze that is compatible with FM2+ CPUs)
RAM: Team Elite 16 GB 1600 DDR3
GPU: 270x Toxic 2 GB
Harddrive: 240 GB Kingston SSD

Is there a case speaker connected to the motherboard? If yes and still no beeps when starting without RAMs , then it might be related to the CPU support.
An option would be buying a BIOS chip flashed with the latest version from ebay or ASUS and replacing the board's one (it's on socket and easy to replace).
Or try again the Flashback.

I'm having the same problem. Getting stuck at 66, but also sometimes it stops at 00. Have tried everything here, used BIOS flashback to update to the latest 1602 (board was 1001 originally).
I tried taking all ram out. and that makes it stop at 5F. I've tried one stick, two sticks, different brand, Still the same problem.

Two possible reasons I can think of is the CPU I have installed is the AMD Athlon X4 760K. I do not have a video card as I believed that this board has onboard video, but apparently that might not be true but instead requires a certain kind of CPU? I can't find a clear answer on this. Something about APU I believe?

Another possibility is the power supply I am using does not have an 8-pin EATX12V connector, only a 4-pin one. Manual says that shouldn't be a problem, however.

Any ideas or am I screwed?

Thanks!

I tried it with an old NVIDIA geforce 9500GT, but that didn't seem to work.

The power supply is an Antec TPS-550.

I ordered an AMD A8-5600K APU. Hopefully that's the problem.

Okay so I just tried it again. I reset the bios, installed the Geforce 9500GT gpu, and powered it on. And this time it posted! Interestingly the Q-Code was still stuck at 66, but it posted and I was able to enter the bios setup.

Not sure what I differently, but we're good to go now.

Ultimately this was my stupid mistake for not realizing the onboard video required the special "APU" kind of AMD cpu. Most of my builds are intel so I'm not as familiar with AMD architecture.

Thanks for the help!
